So, i feel like maelstrom generation had gotten worse for stormbringer somehow. Could be just me but i dont feel as good about it as i did before.
Decided to mix it up and try totemic. Google heard me and suggested some guy name Sorgal who had a totemic build. It looked fun. The moment i swapped, i noticed a massive improvement across the board. And here is the crazy thing, the rotation is so much simpiler and easy to do while still staging fun. The rotation even stays the same from aoe to single target which is nice. If you have been thinking about it, try it out. The stats you need are the same as stormbringer.
I been playing Totemic and it can slap. Now it is interesting in single target raid, that the Storm build hits hard. It is interesting because it does not use two hero talents, lively totems and reactivity. Instead, it uses the Totemic Rebound to make up for the damage.
It does seem strange but it works, and works well. Trying our next crack at Heroic queen, and now that I know the fight better, I can focus more on damage and see what I can squeeze out of this build.
As the OP says, don’t sleep on Totemic. Its a lot better than people think.

Right? Its funny that too of the hero talents are absolutely useless right now for the build but can still pump out the damages. I just normal raid with it. And other than the constantly moving with ansurek and shifting in bloodbound beast, i was able to sustain damage on my totem.
Been playing it since the patch dropped. Love it. Definitely slept on, and seriously digging the playstyle
Its pretty good on pure ST, especially ones with minimal movement. I just hope they figure out how to make the 2 LL talents good cuz ignoring them is a huge DPS increase
The way I see it they would have to change the alternate option for earthsurge to something to, ideally for me, make searing totem buddies a lot better. Maybe make them last longer and magnified benefits from our secondary stats.
They should definitely let reactivity sunders proc windfury though. I’m not the biggest fan of totemic rebound triggering from spenders(the thing that got a whole hero tree to itself) but if people are enjoying it then “meh” it’s fine.

Being tethered to a totem to do actual damage is gabage design.
24 second duration on a 24 second cd? Like, why it even exist? Thats literal button bloat.
Who comes up with this stuff?

I’m guessing you didn’t know that you can move it with totemic projection
Oh I know. I do it all the time and its annoying and shouldn’t be a thing
Don’t play it then? Some people like it, and it shouldn’t be made irrelevant

It reeks of being an unintended build. I thought someone was trolling when I first imported the build and saw the right side of the tree was marked out because we don’t even use lava lash and its accessories because it’s just all physical damage and boosts for totemic. Also using a global on totemic projection feels awful. Last but not least despite being a new and original style for enhancement shaman somehow being even more gamba is not my favorite thing with how important sundering procs are when in ascendance.
The latest wowhead build uses lava lash to take advantage of the two hero talents.
Personally I think its a great spec, both thematically and mechanically. Dropping totems is what shamans are known for, historically. It is also not as bloaty as stormbringer. You dont have to juggle EB and lightning bolt and perform a nuclear launch sequence to do above average dps. You just have to drop a totem and move it to where it is needed. It’s beginner friendly.
For the tyryhards out there, there’s stormbringer. What I dont get is the hate. Does the existence of totemic diminish stormbringer in any way, shape, or form?

I’ve been exclusively playing totemic, stormbringer is to boring for me. Totemic slaps, and working around totem placement makes it kinda funner. You gotta plan out where mobs are, where the tanks going, and react to extra pulls so its not just face-roll-keyboard playstyle. Would absolutely adore a change to totemic projection so it cost mana to use instead of having a cooldown.
Lively totems and reactivity REEEAALLLY needs some work and love. Searing totem is like…less than 2% of my overall damage. Barely worth having, but I just gotta smash lava lash to put it out and make it fire off. So…extra totem. But absolutely needs something.

As enhance shaman main I’m absolutely loving the changes. I’ve had 0 issues with maelstrom generation and the rotation feels smoother now. The DPS numbers also don’t lie. I’m doing significantly more damage now and it’s less rng now. 100% amazing change imo. That being said I’ve wanted to check out totemic but haven’t had a ton of chances to play lately. It looks fun but still seems like it would be kind of hit or miss relying on a totem to do a good percent of your damage. Mainly because of how fast paced mythics are and the constant movement required. I’m still going to give it a go though eventually. It does seem like it could have some potential.
It did get worse because of the nerf to supercharge and the change to storm swell.
I made a few posts on what they should do in my opinion, but I’ll add something extra, static accumulation should work on all spenders, not just bolt or chain, but the 20% should still only be on chain and bolt, also, thorim should not be changed. I was debating in my head whether or not static accumulation should also work with abilities such as ele blast, and ultimately I think yes.
Some people like using another button to move a totem? Wow such engaging gameplay!
They could’ve made totemic projection explode or something when used with a hero talent, but nah.
Its as engaging as any other ground based aoe effect
I agree, a little. I prefer Storm though. Not because one does more damage than the other. I play Storm because it just feels smoother to me. Totemic does put out good damage, that agree with, but Storm to me feels like it flows better.
