a better thing… Since Arthas’ corpse is somewhere… what if Sylvanas raises him as a undead servant. would be ironic and right up Blizzard’s alley if the former servant ended up making a servant out of the former master.
They blew their resurrection token on Illidan. They can’t do that to Arthas so soon afterwards, they’d overplay their hand.
Sadly, the other remaining Warcraft 3 characters are either dead or irrelevant.
Jaina – BFA’s poster girl. Probably can’t carry another expansion on her back.
Muradin – Not popular enough.
Tyrande – Has been around since vanilla. People don’t seem to like her.
Malfurion – See above.
Cairne – Polymorphed into a char-broiled steak.
Rexxar – Returns every now and then. Never does much.
Uther – Dead
Mal’ganis – Returned in Legion just to retreat. Coward.
Grom – Returned in WoD just to have his character ruined.
Drek’thar – Literally who?
Gazlowe – Has been around. Also never does much.
Kel’thu-
THAT’S IT!!!
The character we need to make a grand return is Kel’thu-frickin’ZAD!
Sylvanas’s deaths have never removed her from the storyline nor caused the players to think that she was dead-dead. She has always been returned to undeath almost immediately. It’s not quite the same thing.
Arthas WILL return, but it will be as one of the encounters for the 15th Anniversary Raid and the Deathwing Mount. I guarantee you, Kaelthas - Arthas - Spine will be part of the “multiple encounters” they talked about.
Ah, I see. Good point, point taken. Perhaps the deterrent for them would be seeing how that trick is being received by the community these days. There are only so many times you can trick a dog by pretending to throw the frisbee before he refuses to take his eyes off your hand.
You gotta see things through Blizzard’s perspective.
There’s no guarantee WoW will last much longer. That has always been true. That’s why they blew through Illidan and Arthas in the first two expansions. Tomorrow is never certain.
That’s why they had us go to Argus in a patch instead of an Expansion. If they had saved Argus for a third Burning Legion Expansion, would WoW have survived long enough to have a third Burning Legion Expansion? They don’t know, and neither do we. Nobody knows. It’s the future!
So I think they will milk the cows they can while they can.
And with Warcraft 3 Reforged on the horizon to build Arthas hype, now is an especially great time to milk the Arthas cow.
