So I come up with things for the Pook to do in Stormwind that are punishments handed down to her by her CO Mathias.
First their was Rogue Booping duty, a program designed to try and prevent Horde rogue incursions into Stormwind. It turns out it doesn’t. Big surprise, but it keeps the Pook out of Mathias’s hair for while.
Tonight Pook was assigned bus driver duty. In an effort to prevent the Long-Leggedies from getting drunk and racing their mounts through Stormwind, the Temporary King of the Long-Leggedies is trying out a public bus service that connects all the pubs in Stormwind as well as the tavern in Goldshire. So the Pook was stuck shuttling people around the city in a magic boat.
It was incredibly fun!
It got me thinking about how fun it would be to have vehicles in the game that up to four randos can hop into. I had so much fun being a bus driver. It was fun trying to calculate the most efficient route through the city to connect all the pubs and goldshire in a circuit. I know I’m not going to get any sleep tonight because I’ll be trying to figure out whether or not I’ve discovered the optimal route. The Love Boat was the perfect vehicle for taxi/bus service role play. It’s faster than an RP walk but it’s slower than a mount. This allowed me to drive through the city while avoiding hitting any Long-Leggedies (I imagined a counter that went down if I collided with pedestrians).
What was amazing people would get in and out of the boat. Some of them would ride for a short while, others would ride until they saw someone they knew and then they would hop out, others would ride until they reached the next pub. Sometimes they’d strike up conversations, sometimes they’d ride in silence.
Wouldn’t it be amazing if you could get a carriage toy that let you choose one of your mounts to pull it and it travelled at that same speed and let randos jumpp into it, and you lost points for hitting pedestrians so you have to travel around the city carefully. It would be so much fun to play as a cabbie or as a bus driver with different types of carriages.
But in the meantime, if you see a gnome piloting a magic boat from pub to pub then you know the Pook has done something to make Mathias give her Designated Driver duty. Probably yelled at him for sending 4 alliance vs 7 horde into the Seething Shore and then called the whole thing off EVEN THOUGH WE WERE WINNING! SERIOUSLY MATHIAS!? WHAT THE HECKETY IS WRONG WITH YOU???
Now you just need a Bus Driver’s Union guild!
