I still don't understand Visions

I think it’s because I am an old fart, but I really can’t figure out what I’m supposed to be doing in this patch, and the guides all seem to be in Latin.
So I did the quest where I go into a vision and kill Thrall. Quick and easy. I get another quest asking for pages of something. I go back into the visions two more times to try for those other areas, but don’t get very far and didn’t get any pages. So, now what am I supposed to do?

And when people say their cloak is rank 6, what does that even mean? Where can I see what rank my cloak is? I know there are two zones with daily quests that I am supposed to be doing, but I have no idea why I am doing them. For the love of all that is holy, I just want to raid. But of course, I’m sure I’m not doing whatever it is raid groups are going to expect.

Any help is appreciated.

You get the pages by killing Thrall. You won’t be successful in the other areas of the map until you upgrade your cloak more - you do that by getting pages and turning them in to Wrathion.

You can see what level your cloak is at by mousing over it in your character screen. It’s not the item level, but it will say what level your cloak is at. If you haven’t turned in any pages, you will be at level 1 still. When someone says they are level 6, it means they’ve done that repeatable quest and turned in pages over and over until they are level 6. Each attempt costs 10k visions, so it’s repeatable but takes a bit to farm the required amount.

You’re basically wasting visions at this point if you’re doing anything by going and killing Thrall.

So I’m supposed to just keep killing Thrall??? That is so unintuitive, how did you know that? It doesn’t really explain that anywhere in the quest instructions.

This patch is incredibly confusing without research I dislike it a lot people like OP are not uncommon I have been seeing stuff like this all week people have no idea whats going on and what the goals are.

Just wanted to tack on to this great response.

To get to rank 6 you need to do an objective but thats it.

So level 1-5 just kill Thrall
6+ you need to do objectives and then kill him.

Don’t feel bad tho… I had to re-spec to kill Thrall solo and lost a rank over it… I actually like this patch because I’m a huge fan of the old God lore… Just kill Thrall 3-4 times or in your case the Alliance counterpart.

Well, I agree the quest dialogue and the patch is general is a bit vague but I knew to kill Thrall just from the quest itself. I personally wasn’t confused on that part, but I can see how people definitely would be. Overall the patch seems vague in describing what there is to do and how to get it done, IMO.

That said, the guides CAN be helpful (check Wowhead) and also maybe watch…I hate to say it…but Youtube videos. I know some of the WoW Youtubers can be incredibly toxic, but I have a few reliable favorites that don’t feed into the hype one way or another, they just give facts and information.

A summary of what I think is going on this patch:

The bad guy wants to corrupt us because he’s naughty. Mother and a computer are connecting us to a bad place where we go in and get corrupted. Then we come out, and go in and out until we get to a climactic finish. Sounds like my life, but without my mother getting involved.

This whole thing is confusing. This is going to be hell for alts

I didn’t know you couldn’t use the orb during combat and pulled Thrall while my corruption was high, thinking I could clear it, but nope. So I also lost out on a rank. It happens. I like the Old God lore, too, I just think it could’ve been done more coherently.

Does the game quest even tell you that you have to kill Thrall/Alleria to get the pages? Or does it just say “get the pages”?

Wowhead told me after my fail…

Isn’t that what people want?

“The game is too streamlined”

“Needs more complexity”

“Game is easy mode”

Now you have to do a little research and use your (gasp) brain and people immediately revert to being incompetent

The explanation of it all is kinda horrible lol , I don’t blame you OP. But it’s just a challenge that scales up the more you level your cloak. Wrathion tells you later to get pages, you get more objectives that are in the quest text but they all require you to do it WHILE end goal killing Thrall I believe or your effort won’t count.

And normally I wouldn’t mind a steep learning curve, but the new raid comes out this week, and I am trying to get into a new raid group. So not being “prepared” can seriously hamper my efforts.

Die hards say all those things but you gotta wonder how often the average player looks at a guide.

“I came across several references to this book in my research of Ny’alotha. Penned by a neophyte cultist, it documents the “lies of the Titans” and the “injustices” they inflicted upon the denizens of Azeroth. Mad ravings, intended to erode the reader’s acceptance of reality. Still, by studying this work, we can gain a better understanding of the Old God’s power, and thus tailor the cloak to offer better protection against it. Bring as many pages from this tome as you can find.”

So, no, not directly. Although if you look at the map I do believe the quest marker is right on top of Thrall, so it’s sort of a hint there but definitely not clear enough.

I already gave up on the cloak, and the visions, they are so confusing. I already made up my mind that I will not be raiding this patch Because of that cloak. Did not raid last tier because guild fell apart, was looking for a new one to raid with but after I seen what is required for that cloak I just stopped. So Now It’s just a nice 470 upgrade for alts and that’s it.

Honestly you do you. I just like to pvp these days I even went frost so I can PVP more effectively to my taste. Just make sure you run LFR atleast once on each wing it is still always worth it to run it atleast once for story if nothing else.
