I reset my ui as per these steps:
All of my addon are available BUT all settings, profiles, weakauras that I customized appear erased when I load up the game.
So I copied everything in the old Interface folder to the new Interface folder (Addons).
No change.
So then I deleted the new Cache, WTF, Interface folders, and renamed CacheOld, WTFOld, InterfaceOld back to Cache, WTF, Interface.
No change.
Please help, where are the customized profiles, weakauras at? They should be the exact same spot since I didnât delete anything (except the newly generated Cache WTF Interface after 1 login).
Looks like you backed up the WTF folder to WTFOld.
Your settings files are under WTF. Usually an addonâs setting file will be in a name very similar to the addonâs name (like WeakAuras.lua)
The directories youâre most interested in is:
WTF\Account\ <123456789#1>\ServerName\CharacterName\characterspecific setting files
WTF\Account\ <123456789#1>\SavedVariables\Setting files shared by all characters on account

ok ok, Iâm in that folder from my old WTF before I reset UI, what do I do with these files? Iâm pretty sure theyâre in the same spot as they were before I reset UI:
D:\Games\World of Warcraft_retail_\WTF\Account\Accountname\Servername\Charname
You could just copy everything back to the new WTF directory and all your settings would be restored, but keep in mind you did a full ui reset to fix something and its always possible that it was an Addon or a random settings file that contributed to whatever issues you were trying to fix. You want the addons working again but you also need to narrow down if an addon caused the issue and if it did, which addons are the âbad guyâ. Its possible that none of them are. Its also possible some are bad too.
Assuming that â123456789#1â is the Account directory that is for all your characters and stuff and you want those settings back.
And your settings are in various subdirectories of this:
D:\Games\World of Warcraft\_retail_\WTF\Account\123456789#1
- Ignore all the files in
123456789#1 (bindings-cache.wtf, macros-cache.txt, etcâŚ)
- Copy the SavedVariables directory back (that will restore your WeakAuras btw)
- copy all the Server Directories (DragonFlight, etcâŚ) and the entirety of their contents back.
This will give you your Addon settings back.
Then when you start WoW, stop yourself at the character selection screen. At this point WoW has not loaded any of your addons.
- Click the Addonâs button, and only select the âbare minimumâ of addons you want for now. Try the game and make sure everything works.
- Enable more addons later as you feel more confident.
Either everything will continue to work or youâre going to find that an addon might have contributed to your original problem.

When I renamed Cache, WTF, Interface folders with the âOldâ suffix at the end and booted up the game and noticed my weakauras were gone, I deleted the new folders and renamed the actual old folders back to Cache, WTF, Interface. So my understanding, everything should be back were it was, including those saved variable files. And thatâs where I am seeing them right now, D:\Games\World of Warcraft\_retail_\WTF\Account\123456789#1
Am I misunderstanding something youâre telling me? Like as far as I understand, those files are exactly where they should be and where youâre telling me to relocate them
I thought you had saved old the old stuff to âWTFOldâ and I was explaining which stuff in âWTFOLDâ to move back to âWTFâ.
If you renamed your WTFOld back to WTF while the game was not running then you will be OK. If you did it while the game was running, you may be screwed because when you exited the game it would have overwritten your old files with whatever settings were in memory causing you to lose settings. Addons create a âAddonName.bakâ file before saving new data, but it only keeps 1 copy of the backup.

I must have moved them back while the game is running then. Thatâs the only explanation. Thank you very much for your time here <3
Now I must get to work writing new weakauras xD
