I really want to tank in this game

…but a lot of people are so mean it terrifies me. I’m terrified to play a spec in the game because of toxic players. I’ve tried in the past and it just wasn’t a nice experience. Can’t you guys carebear just a liiittle bit like they do in FFXIV? I’m a PUG healer main. I’m here to help people. JUST BE NICE TO TANKS. :sob:

Expecting people to carebare you is unrealistic. And no one should, to be honest. In the same vein, no one should be rude either.

Just tank. Take your time, enjoy learning how to do it. Start in M0’s, and then work your way up. There’s nothing wrong with someone learning.

Best not to let other people spoil your fun. Tank. Have fun with it.

I think the world will be relieved to get a Tank who’s nice to people  Takes all kinds of tanks. As Shadina said, start at the bottom, move your way up to groups who just wanna complete their ten for the week and will plead with you before the run not to quit in the middle, and then fill up your tank-toxicity bar as much as you want

Do it! Start with LFR and Heroic until you get comfortable.

Haven’t yet started on this character but in my Paladin, was addicted after a week. You have the control and you get to lead. Feels good

You’re a hunter… you’re already great at pulling mobs  sorry, couldn’t resist.

life is probably pretty tough if you let strangers on the internet impact you this much. They don’t matter. Ignore them and have fun tanking.

All the forum pleas in the world aren’t going to make every pug experience a good one. I suggest spending the time to find a guild you mesh with. Makes a HUGE difference.

Just run with your guild to avoid the turd players.
Simple as that.

Why do you give nameless faceless people you will probably never meet in real life so much power over you?

Hold on to that feeling. It’ll keep you from making the mistake of tanking for these ill mannered DPS obnoxio’s that your certain to run into and end up quitting anyway.

I love healing and like tanking but if you are talking in random groups you are certain to end up being irritated about every 5th run or so to the point that you just dont want to do it anymore.

And then you’ll get to see them in here crying about a tank shortage while theyre bragging about pulling for the tank…or vote kicking a tank who didnt pull fast enough to keep their 5 second prepubescent attention span entertained.

I’d heal and tank every single day if it werent for DPS players behavior.

It’s sad that expecting basic human respect is considered “care bearing”.

The BEST advise I can give is find someone you like or a guildy at least to heal and one for dps then ignore any of the jackholes that are rude to you.

  1. I forget that guilds exist in this game. I’m on an RP server, guilds that do anything else are super rare to find and if you find one, it’s even harder to find a place to fit in.
  2. No one wants to be harassed, faceless strangers or not. Unfortunately, people are way meaner to the tanks in this game than anything I’ve ever seen in 12+ years of playing various MMOs. People wonder why they’re always waiting forever for a tank.

Lol, that’s what’s stopping you.

You made me smile Gaia, thank you.

Stranger danger

They used the term carebare. And to expect anyone to act differently than they normally would is silly! Which is exactly why I said screw it! Tank if they wanna.

just play classic

The most forgiving tank is monk. I highly suggest tanking on a monk first because you can have 100% uptime on your defensive mitigation (ironskin brew) while learning how to tank. It really makes learning encounters a lot easier when you don’t have to time your defensives based on incoming damage, or reactive reflexes responding to a boss ability.

Tanks must be strong

Your group is at your mercy or you’ve already failed

I had a very different experience with FFXIV.

Just focus on tanking for your guild. Tanking for pugs isn’t worth it.
