Ground target AOE is extraordinarily clunky and even Blizzard recognizes this with their changes to ground target abilities and providing options.
- Earthquake: Ground Target → Unit Target
- Flamestrike: Ground Target → Unit Target
- Rain of Fire: Ground Target → Unit Target
Etc. etc.
Flamefang pitch should really function like Wildfire Bomb and just have it be cast on unit target.

It already is WFB with a different name and 1 min CD (lol) it sliteral hot garbage no pun intended.
Its only good use is on target dummies that dont move or cast anything

If you need enemies to stand still to be effective that is a you problem. Not a FfP thing.
FFP just needs remade entirely. Static ground AoEs are archaic

I feel like they’re fine if they act like sigils, but continuous ground based aoe is indeed not super good.

Just needs to deal a total of X seconds’ duration regardless of whenever an enemy enters the AoE / has it dropped on them.
- If you drop it on them and they move out, it’s still 8s.
- If they move into it with just 0.1s left on the ground AoE → 8s.
- If into it, out, back again. → Still just 8s total.
just replace it with a melee ability: flanking strike, butchery, or wyvern strike etc.

They should do this for MMs Volley aswell, seems like the hunter dev is a little behind sadly
Usually for things like these I do a @player macro, in testing it seemed to work fine that way since I’m in melee range most of the time anyway.
That said, they do need to be more consistent with how they handle these ‘aoe but on target’ things. Half the skills can be cast on target, half the skills can’t, and there’s no real rhyme or reason for it.
I fear this would just make it an even more glorified WFB with a 1 min cd. Personally I just think it shoudl be remade entirely
I’d prefer an altogether different ability, yes, but that’s how you can at least make it problem-free with at least some small advantage over WFB.
I think the best way to fix Flamefang Pitch is to drastically reduce it’s cooldown and maybe remove the reticle.
I’m suggesting a 20 second cooldown, similar to Wildfire Bomb. It’s basically Wildfire Bomb+ anyway. So 20 second cooldown, with 2 possible charges. One every 10 seconds or so would mitigate the clunkiness mobs moving out of the AOE by just allowing alot more of it, and more often. (And would be pretty cool to set everything on fire imo)
IMO you can take or leave the reticle targeting. Yeah it’s kinda annoying, but we lost explosive trap and binding is baby small now, another reticle move isn’t the most thing. A hunter should have to practice thier aim sometimes.
