I completely agree that there is too great a discrepancy between the the best and the lowest level of player. I would also probably agree that our general “rotations” are too unforgiving.
But allowing players to condense the ENTIRETY of their character into a single button?
That is going to irrevocably alter the game.
I really think this is a very, very bad idea. This feel like throwing your hands up and just saying “I give up” in regards to game design.
And the thing is, just as Ion himself set, once you give players a feature, you’re going to have a very difficult time ever taking that back.
I really, truly think this is going to have an awful impact on the game, and completely render the idea of “learning to play” completely meaningless.
Only difference with Blizzard’s implementation is that is a less capable version than Add-ons already available and more capable than a one-button ability sequence macro…
My biggest worry is that its’ existence is probably going to get used as an excuse in the future to not make rotations feel more satisfying to play or make some of them even more needlessly bloated because “you can turn it off if you want”.
“Oh you don’t like it? Well why don’t you just use 1 button rotation so you don’t have to use it!” seems like it’ll get used more when it’s an official tool and not a third party add-on.
Doubtful. Good players aren’t going to use it. Players who have a goal of being good aren’t going to use it. The only people who might use it are those who need the accessibility feature or those who don’t care about optimization and just play to chill.
People are scared about “one button scrubs” coming into their grouped content, but in actuality it would probably be a net positive. Because if someone is bad enough to need to use the one button rotation, using it will probably end up outputting more dps.
exactly. these players are already in LFR. they’re already in normal, heroic, m0, and timewalking dungeons, hitting one button over and over or just tapping whatever lights up on their bars. this option will only improve their performance.
This forum is going to be so sweet when the posts of “players with one button rotation are doing more dps than me, this was a horrible mistake” start coming in.
It’ll get nerfed beyond usefulness. Heard some rumors that some specs are only 6-10% behind with one button. If that’s the case, half the guilds still raiding will mandate it for some members, and the community will lose it’s collective mind. Honestly, this is pre work for an official port to console. Cause nothing says fun like having to screen M+ applicants for Xbox kiddos.
if it helps people with disabilities, then its a good thing. but saying its gonna help newbies learn their class is just… no, no it won’t. that will teach them to rely on a crutch. the button highlight could be useful tho.
