I really really really really really really really HATE Anduin

Question:

Is this complaining about Anduin not being “macho” enough to shrug the struggles off?

Or is it complaining about Blizz’ writing being too hamfisted with the portrayal of it?

We have Thrall at home.

IIRC Anduin was around 18 or something during Shadowlands, which is still very much a youth. If it’s been 5 or so years since then he’s in his early 20s, which is still a very young man. We aren’t even fully intellectually and emotionally developed until around 24 or so, which means he’s still very much an inexperienced youth.

His behaviors, especially given how much he’s gone through in such little time, are absolutely realistic.

Have you SEEN the things said on this forum? While many may see it as hamfisted, you’d have a hard time telling me that strategy isn’t entirely mandatory given how thick the player base is.

I still think we should have left him in Pandaland.

People don’t want emo JRPG type characters, they want stories revolving around macho action figure meathead type characters only, so regardless of how well they handle it, people will not like it

This just means they need these types of stories even MORE

I assume all the people who complain about Anduin have either:

A) Never been through something traumatic and character-changing irl, therefore cannot understand it
B) Have never committed to reading or watching a lengthy series involving a slow burn character development

Or both.

I thought you were talking about the troll that likes to live on these forums. Then I read the post.

How do we pick just one?!

C) So focused on things that make them mad that it prevents them from seeing what’s actually there. Literally consumed with rage.

Not sure what people even want from him.

He’s not the leader of the Alliance right now. And even though he’s not the leader right now, he pushes himself to go into danger scenarios to help people even when other people are telling him not. And he generally makes things better as a result.

Shows both responsible behavior and a sense of duty and competence.

You shouldn’t make assumptions about the life experience of strangers.

And he moves forward knowing that he has self doubts. He pushes forward, knowing he is weak. He pushes forward without faith.

He does all that because he is actually very brave.

Corrected you because everyone does this lol. Whether you admit it or not.

It is. Every person who complains about Anduin “crying” clearly has no empathy, zero emotional maturity, has never had any sort of major traumatic event in their life, or some combination thereof.

Yep. That too.

Idk if it’s completely reasonable tbh since everything he’s done in Shadowlands even while mind controlled was pretty “weak” in comparison to his grief. Even when he attacked the Paragon or whatever the blue lady was called, she didn’t even die, so whoever he allegedly hurt at least on screen, didn’t really account to much as far as I remember.

I don’t really HATE Anduin, but I definitely dislike what happened to his character, although I think the way he’s being brought back to his feet is worse than his actual internal conflict. Faerin lecturing him about the light was pretty shallow and one dimensional imo.

This is mostly when I compare how Anduin, as a teenager, behaved in Mists of Pandaria to Anduin in Shadowlands and now. The kid fearlessly opposed Garrosh even if it meant he’d die to save others from his madness but now he’s crying over him “liking” harming others when mind controlled. Idk man.
