Right after the launch of War Within I made a similar thread, yes I really like Delves, this solo content is exactly what I’m looking for, but Delves have problems that take away a lot from the fun aspect.
Just like my first thread, heres what bothers me about Delves:
Objectives feels bad, get rid of them
Hold candles, talk to an NPC who makes you fish, be forced to talk to an NPC and get equipment before starting the Delve. Lets say my fun parameter is 100%, objectives makes it 40%.
Traps feels bad, get rid of them
They don’t bring anything positive, only negative aspects, inconveniences that are intended to take away fun.
Regular enemies hitting like a truck
I know that challenge is important, but I believe it is healthier to allocate the power of normal mobs to mini-bosses within the delves.
This way, players can be a little more comfortable during the journey and pay attention to key moments like bosses, instead of being tense all the time.
Decrease Branns healing, decrease normal mobs damage, sometimes i die in 3 hits, in a 5 second window.
I know that by removing traps and objectives, the delve will become a corridor with monsters and bosses, and delves intention is to be different.
My suggestion is to include less frustrating mechanics, such as being poisoned and having to go to point X to heal, otherwise the fight against minibosses and bosses will be much more difficult.
Mechanics that penalize the player to fight more monsters (these monsters not being sponges)
Mechanics like you can kill archers and fight a boss not being shotted, or you can fight the bosses being attacked by these archers… or mages. They are fun and have purpose.
I don’t know, delves has A LOT of potential but they are not fun this way.
The fastest way to make they more interesting is nerfing monsters by 30% and buffing bosses by 30%. Something in theses lines…
Honestly your suggested changes make delves sound even more boring than they already are. The bosses are already sponges with like two actual mechanics, buffing them would just make them take longer.
I don’t know man. I can solo clear every single 11 while watching a movie and not even really looking at my screen. They aren’t anywhere near hard enough. Once you get a character to like 650-660…they are essentially just time walking instances. If anything they need a lot…lot more complexity.
I do three every Tuesday for the gilded and then when I’m really tired I’ll run a couple for undercoin so I can get the goodie bags for the ah. It’s mindless content that really doesn’t pose any real challenge at all. Imo.
Yeah, I really dislike the delve gimmicks.
I wish the structure was more like Torghast where it was just enemies, but you’d have mini bosses along the way and the environment itself was a mechanic dodging stuff.
Honestly right now I have WoW open on my other monitor, but the thought of having to faff about with the Candles or collect Battery packs is making me not want to play.
They’re not hard, fun, or engaging. They’re just hinderances.
My gear is mostly maxed, I have enough crests to craft the leftover piece or two if I want, but it’s a side grade thanks to tertiary stats. I’ve even collected a speed set that puts me at about 130% movement speed. I’ve been running 1 t1 delve to upgrade the belt, that’s it. Lol
The mid tier ilvl bump felt like a chore.
I love delves existing, I just preferred their existence in the first season more.
Absolutely not. Objectives are why I like Delves, as it makes them interactive and different. I was more interactive.
They aren’t supposed to be positive. That’s why they’re called traps. And they should exist. It’s part of making patching different in the same Delve and part of the interaction.
The higher you go, the harder they hit. All mobs. Because it’s higher tiers.
How is that even remotely less frustrating?
That changes nothing but reallocation of numbers. And that’s not how they should work. All mobs are dangerous in Delves. This isn’t a dungeon.
Everything you said is literally a description of how Delves work.
My premise is “Delves are bad the way they are right now”.
Basically,
Me: Delves are bad being X, it should be Y
You: But Delves are X, look how they are X.
Its objectively changes, instead of everything being sponges, only bosses will be.
Probably you don’t understand what “changes nothing” means.
I want delves to go as high as mythic plus. I have fun pushing this content without having to worry about other players in the group wanting to min max their time. I like running around the room and being obnoxious and pulling how I want. It’s fun. So no, make them harder if anything.
The bosses are already sponges. Adding 30% health would make it worse.
What they really need to add, ESPECIALLY now that we’re supposed to farm the Titan Shards, is an auto loot feature. Having to spam 1s because the drop rate isn’t guaranteed but needing to stop and loot every stupid mob for the Shards is ridiculous. Or just put all the loot in one of the chests that you collect at the end from everything that you killed.
Delves are great for my endless cycle of picking a main, deciding I don’t like it, rerolling, then using Delves to get the character Champion gear.
They’re great for having an army of alts sitting around rotting with mediocre gear lol.
You can’t transfer crests so the game is never really going to be about playing the character you want.
What if you love raiding on your Lock, but hate Delving on it? You love Delving on your Prot but don’t want to tank the raid or keys and so on and so forth, the scenarios are endless.
The game and Delves will never reach their full potential until they make everything Warbound.
You can do that doing a good content instead of getting slowed in webs, talking to NPCS, picking stuff on the ground and nerfing robots… you can actually do that having fun with the game if they improve delves.
