I really hate must-have racials

I can understand wanting to be Human/Orc for PvP. Outside of that though it really doesn’t matter.

Is Dwarf amazing for M+? Sure, but how many people are really willing to be that ugly in order to push keys? Not that many.

Hell, technically I should probably be playing a Goblin if I wanted a good racial for my priest. But a Goblin? C’mon now, that’s just a green dwarf on a diet.

I don’t understand why racials haven’t been disabled in high end PvE and PvP already.

Shadowmeld matters in pve and pvp

It doesn’t matter that much in PvE. I’m not going to speak to PvP because I don’t really play it.

Are you defining pve as raids?

M+ or raid, you don’t need shadow meld to do anything substantial.

I think it would be good for the game if race was mostly a background and aesthetic choice, rather than optimization. Maybe some convenience racials attached to it, like Vulpera’s camp.

I’d also open all clases for all races.

It’s very useful in keys

I’m saying it isn’t a make or break decision. Anyone pushing keys as alliance would take Dwarf way before they took Night Elf unless they had a pre made group with something very specific in mind.

But again, dwarves are ugly, night elves aren’t (ish). Hence less dwarves.

So long as racials feel really thematic to the race, I don’t particularly care about strength.
I can plug my ears to the Meta so long as I have a racial that makes my race feel special.

Goblin Rocket Jump, Troll Berserk, Gift of the Naaru, Call of the Ancestors, and Regenerate are all great examples of Thematic racial abilities that make your race feel special.

Gnomes Escape Artist is a pretty damn good racial but it doesn’t particularly feel like it embraces Gnome culture, and Shadowmeld is a genius reference to WarCraft 3, but I always felt like it should be exclusive to females.

Not even gonna imagine that Balance nightmare though. :face_vomiting:

Edit: Idea! Male Night Elves could have a low power form a Druid Rejuvinate. Similar to gift of the Naaru. That would keep it in tune with WC3.

Meld is pretty sweet in keys but dwarf racials were actually OP this expansion.

It is possible to have racials stay in the game as RPG elements by changing them to traits. Rather then something you change on the fly, during character creation you choose a set of traits for your toon.

That could preserve the RPG aspect without changing racials into another talent window you change in rested areas.

Orc stun resistance doesn’t matter AT ALL when 1> it’s a low-percentage chance to resist a stun. It’s not like you can COUNT on it. 2> more importantly, even if you do catch a good proc … don’t worry fella, you have 6443 more stuns coming right after that one!!!

PvP in this game is a joke.

Uh, yes please. I think the concept of background providing what would be racial bonuses would not only encourage players to play what they like aesthetically, provide some customization, and also gives that smidge of RPG character creation flavor.

Big fan.

Racials are a nice to have, I don’t know if so would call them a must-have. Granted some are just straight up useless.

Some people don’t even know what their racials do. I was in a solo-shuffle yesterday. 4 rogues, 3 of them were BElf. Both healers were HPals, we would BoP and NOT A SINGLE BElf rogue knew our racial removed BoP… lol

I like racials but the orc racial is way too good in PvP due to how much PvP relies on stuns to get kills.

Forces everyone to go orc pretty much

Orcs don’t have stun resist chance anymore. They have a flat 20% reduction in duration. Add in standard diminishing returns on stuns and it is really powerful.

Add in blood fury for burst windows and orcs are amazing for pvp.

I guess this only matters in Arena? Blizz develops 3-4 things for PvP to do, but only one matters?

Because in anything else BUT Arena, you’re going to get stunlocked to literal death. If there’s DR still in the game, it doesn’t work and you only have to run one BG to know it.
