I really disliked shadow lands

So much that I would rather level up in BfA.

It was not a very popular expac.

Okay :+1:

It was terrible imo.

I’m one of the few people that really liked it.
Yes, I know it was awful.

That’s okay, I really loved WOD

A lot of people seem to be leveling in Shadowlands. Personally I found the main storylines to be more or less okay, but the side quests really bloated it up.

I’ve found things to enjoy about every expansion I’ve played, or I wouldn’t have played them. The only one that made me outright quit was Cataclysm, and that was more about my raid guild splitting apart and the end of my involvement in that sort of thing.

Shadowlands had things going for it. The overall plot was pretty bad, though not as bad as people with a surface-level understanding of it claim. It had an absolute truckload of cosmetic goodies, many of which I’ll still be farming anima for for years to come I’m sure. I understand that the Covenants sucked for people trying to min/max, but as a casual fan I enjoyed the aesthetic choices involved.

So would I, except I am one of the few who loved BfA. Shadow Lands to me wasn’t bad as the raids were actually a lot of fun and imo had one of the best 1st of the expansion raids because it was huge, but yeah BfA was a lot of fun to level in imo.

I always imagined Bastion smells like an Anthropologie store.

I mean, you can just not level in either

World- I liked the micro story, and the anima rewards felt fun enough to chase down throughout the expansion. There was a zone aesthetic to please most everyone, more variation than we typically see which was nice. The intro is long though, and the zones are spacious/monochrome.

Raids - The first raid was very solid. Memorable, mechanically good, just very well done. Felt like a capstone to the last zone. The second raid would have been awesome if the atmosphere and assets were not used so heavily in torghast. The sets are pretty rad looking. The third rate felt out of place and had heavy macro story implications that a lot of people didn’t like. The tier sets were very polarizing.

Torghast (and leggos) - acquisition of leggos and throughput made the first month frustrating for a lot of people. I remember seeing people go 0/15 in dungeon runs for a huge throughout leggo. Torghast got old very quickly and felt like a chore. The gimmick did not live up to the hype, but I feel like there could and should have been more variation and depth in it. There is a reason we all play barrens on repeat in classic, figure it out and reimplement that feature.

Pve balance - this was a cluster and put a very sour taste in my mouth. UHDK ate a 20% mastery need during progression while 2-3 other specs (spriest and boomkin) were left alone forever. Tier sets blew survival hunter wide open. MW was hot garbage in keys before the talent revamp. I could go own, just way to sloppy.

Crafting - this was a crap show too. You wait her dropped a ton of money hoping to specialize early in what people ended up needing though very extreme balance shifts through the expansion.

Major story - butchered my interest in story mostly. I rarely visit the story forums now. Plenty of threads on it, but I think they allowed story too much leeway this xpac and they didn’t communicate with other teams. How do you dog on Arthas and then release lich king classic and a bust that costs hundreds USD…

Pvp balance - this was borked a few times throughout the xpac. Rogues were deleting people in openers up to like 1800 rating with the skillets trinket from early nath. Hunters were killing people from stealth with zero counter play. We saw warlock builds get the insane immunity blow you up no CC build here. DH uptime and leech was nutty. All around not very well done, although I did play up to like 1850ish on my warrior I’m s2.

I also disliked Shadow Lands and then Dragonflight flew in and took the prize.

I really like dragon flight so far

Torghast had potential.

First time through I didn’t mind it. Second time through with Threads of Fate it was ok. Hated it after that. Torghast had potential I thought - I didn’t like you couldn’t log off if you were in the middle of it and pick up where you left off when you came back. That made me really dislike it. It was too long at times.

Just got Shadowlands Loremaster a few minutes ago. I loved this xpac! Especially the Winter Queen. Didn’t like Revendreth only because of the layout. I got lost getting from place to place in that area, but other than that, it was fine.

Good news!

I just dungeon spam vanilla-mop dungeons since they have quests in the dungeons.
