I doubt it is him, Warcraft theorists tend to bring very cool ones that Blizz might not think about with how open the lore tends to be. But it is not so bad.

This is not my theory.
My theory is that the Tauren are the real masterminds, hidden behind their fake pacifism.
The theory is functionally sound on premise but I wouldn’t use the Primus for it, Denathrius or Zovaal 2.0 would make more sense frankly from what we know of each Eternal one having two First One designs.
I’ve thought it could be the primus for quite a while. If you read his wowpedia page even. He invented domination runes. He never loses but will lose on purpose to learn from it. He thinks far ahead of anyone ever. There was more to it too, but am sleepy still. It’s worth a read through.

Meaning Primus/Denathrius have been the big bads all along playing both sides and using who and what they can
And the winter queen and whatever that angel things name is from Bastion is are good BECAUSE THE POWER OF WOMEN SHALL WIN!..
…its stupid but it fits todays world view and narrative. I mean look at Arthas and Sylvanas: SHE DID WAY WORST THINGS then arthas did if you go based off a scale yet, she is to be believed, forgiven, redeemed and Arthas can’t be even judged because…? whats the differance between them aside she is a horrible monster and a woman and he is a horrible monster and is a male? I will wait for the check list on this one.

If you consider the chinese thread where the person cracked the code on what all the future wow expansions are going to be by going back and starting with tbc to see two expansions from each(tbc=draenor,legion, wotlk=old gods,shadowlands, cata=dragons,elementals) then it would make sense the primus would be setup to be a follow up expansion down the road. The main major plotlines would be Denathrius and Primus.
Yikes, we couldn’t just talk about the theory without throwing this into it, huh? Good lord.
OP: honestly that theory is something I much prefer to what we actually got, given just how dull and dry the Jailer was. At least it would explain why they made an utterly unlikeable villain with no redeeming or even interesting qualities.

I am sold on that theory 1000%.
Maybe because I’m one of the most rabid fans of Sherlock Holmes, and other great detectives, around. The real villain is NEVER the obvious one. 
I’ve read the fan theory and I think it’s interesting. From what I know about Denathrius, I feel like he is too obvious a villain to be some scheming mastermind pulling the strings. A lot of people like his character and personality, but am I the only one who thinks he is kind of a standard villain?
I found some weird stuff about them recently, i forgot after a long time playing one.
It seems, they don’t like to die, most of their wise old seers and chiefs, in some way are bound in ethereal form to the living world. which is suspicious if you ask me
