Scholar is much better now, at least in duties and trials. In the open world yes it is basically Broil III all day every day, but that’s just the life of a healer.
I am really surprised. My son played WoW from vanilla to Legion with both RL and in-game friends and I couldn’t count the number of discussion (aka whine sessions) centred around the annoyance and tedium of leveling. I would have thought some entrepreneurial game developer would have jumped on this way before now.
There could be two tracks, one PvE and one PvP without any need for crossover.
PvE would have one 1 person tutorial instance for people to practise their group role and then 3 man instances (Pandarian scenarios), 5 man instances (WoW dungeons) and 10 and 25 instances (WoW raids) for progression.
(Not commenting on PvP because I know less than nothing about the specifics of it.)
I wouldn’t be into it as I play mainly for story and questing but I believe there would be definitely be a market for it. And I am thinking (although i could be wrong) Blizzard believes this is the way to go given how they are cutting their leveling/questing requirements and content in their chase for new players.
I don’t know anything about how taxing it would be for a sever to run multiple instances rather than a large open world.
Maybe someone more knowledgable could chime in.
I like the story, but the run over here and hand him this thing they put in for filler in between the actual plot is annoying. They could cut out like 50% of it and it would be good.
I dont know about leveling almost all of my jobs are past 60. I still find myself running around in the old zones til i run off a jump and start flying.
The other day, i logged into wow to see who in my guild was on and trying to click teleport to go to another city though.
T.R.A.I.T.O.R.
You are a traitor miss Monk, you should go to the Maw!
Bow down before the Dark Lady, Goddess of Death!
For the Forsaken!
Death to the living!
The way shadowlands is shaping up I might just stay over there.
There are a lot of things I like from FFXIV, and there are a lot of things I don’t.
I was ready to pull my hair out when trying to get through the end of each expansion because it seemed to just drag on to me. However, I really liked being able to solo dungeons with AI in SB, and that I got to have my own cute room in the FC house.
XIV doesn’t really suck, IMO, but there’s so much of a grind that it really turns me off from wanting to play. It is nice to dabble in it once in a while, but I’d rather sub to WoW.
Holy stuns for 1.5 seconds does decent damage and its not capped as far as I have seen. The damage it does is lower now though as is the stun duration.
I’ve tried FFxiv twice. I’m not a fan.
When bored I do go back to SWtOR. I like the story there. New promo going on in a few days. Might have to up my sub again.
At least FFXIV has never had 12 million subs and ruin their own game to the point that their sub numbers are so low that they are too embarrassed to share the sub numbers.
I estimate the WoW active subs are under a million.
Playing FF14 rn, doing roullets.
better game overall.
I just read an article they estimate it at about 1.7 million. Which shows just how bad BFA is because it goes MOP almost 8, WOD 5.5 Legion 5.4 BFA 1.7
i agree, ff14 is a better game especially right now that they finally cut the 110 post msq of ARR
1.7 is a fair estimate. Agreed. I believe that Blizz’s introduction of legal gold buying via their tokens was a way to offset the huge loss of money from millions of sub losses.
Now WoW is basically pay to win, with people being able to buy tokens for real money, sell tokens for gold, and use gold to purchase runs and buy gear on the AH.
I unsubbed about a week ago and have only logged in a few times since then. I predict that SL will see a moderate increase in subs, then once people realize the game will continue to be crap, brought to you by Saul Goodman aka Ion, they will fall sharply below a million subs.
Im still debating buying it. I know my friends have already bought it and they will continue to play it for a bit so i may buy it just for that. I just dont want to even reward them for the design choices they have already released though. Thats the real meaningful decision.
I am in a similar spot, Epoch. Some of my friends are still here in WoW, so I come back periodically to keep my characters updated enough. I still like my characters here too.
After some thought, maybe the Summoner will work for you, Epoch. It is linked with the Scholar class since they both have the same beginner class Arcanist. Any leveling you do with one will apply to the other as well. That way, you can level like you would in Warcraft as DPS and heal at level cap. As for getting gear, there is a little part where you get a set of free 430 class gear if you complete a role quest line from 70 - 80.
I tried ffxiv. Bought the edition with all the x-pacs during the summer sale … Made it to lvl 57 . I couldn’t log in anymore . I could not stand pushing the same 4 buttons for 57 levels. And the PvP is 10X worse then WoW’s.
Sure looks pretty though. But zero fun for me in the long run . Had to grind to 50 and do 4 days worth of MSQ in order to unlock the class ( job ) I wanted to play. Then realized that job had 4 buttons to press as well… It’s just not fun at all gameplay wise.
No job at 60 has only 4 buttons except maybe BLM lol
I just hit 80 on my whm and I bought a full set of 480 penta melded gear and have over 100 million gil left.
Most of my jobs are at least level 60, Ive actually played the game extensively. Just not in the last few xpacs.
Being forced into every mundane part of the MSQ kills the game for a lot of people. Do you want to do a basic game mechanic? Visit a new area? Then you better get to handing out cookies and pretzels, hero.
Hmm, ok. I am still at the 30 million gil amount. I had been in Shadowbringers at the start, so I had time to get all the jobs to level 80.
As you have noticed, WHM had Cleric Stance and casting 2 extra Aero spells removed. The Cleric Stance one seems to generate a neutral to good opinion overall, but more seem to be lamenting the loss of DPS buttons. WHM was said to be in better shape compared to other healers. This was due to their Lily System getting a makeover with Afflatus Misery hitting hard as the reward using it.
I would definitely approve of a bit more DPS spell options since I am mostly using Regen, Divine Benison (shield), Dia (DoT) and Glare soloing. I am guessing the other DPS spells would have to be debuffs on the enemy or buffs to themselves or the party.
The recent patch changes didn’t really change much for their DPS spells. They did buff the Astrologian mana regen by a ton and reduced mana costs. I used to get Piety up to keep the mana up for it. Now I almost can’t oom for decent parties since drawing a card grants enough mana for a free Aspected Helios (AoE heal with either a HoT or Shield depending on Sect Stance). I can actually use the Nocturnal Sect Shield stance and still have good mana now. The Diurnal Sect HoT Stance is probably still more mana efficient.
I just tried Astrologian out for the recent level 80 4 man Expert roulette. I didn’t even need to use Lucid Dreaming.
