I quit SOM

My reason was because I wanted to play a shaman and level through vanilla and eventually go to tbc and wotlk with said shaman but knowing my character would be stuck in vanilla forever with no avenue to progress it I decided to level a shaman in classic tbc instead of SOM… WHICH sucks cause I want to do the soul of iron challenge but can’t push myself to make a character stuck.

. If blizzard let us choose then I would play no problem

I think you missed the boat for Classic → TBC → Wrath progression since that started in 2019; however, you can still do that for TBC → Wrath if you roll a character on any of the existing TBC servers.

I’m hoping that SoM will show people actually like this and its something that will make its way into the normal Classic stream. I think it’s cool! I’m still working on a non SoI main (which will take me a while, lol), but I definitely plan to give this a try!

Having said that, SoI has its roots in the player-defined hardcore mode, which actually has some decent addon support. SoM gives you a little buff as a decoration, but the core draw of the challenge is personal… doing it just for the sake of doing it. You can do this on the current TBC stream (or even the retail stream, I suppose), if you just personally decide to adhere to the rules of the challenge.

I love the world of Classic but the class balance irks me. Hopefully season 2 is where we see some real changes to bring specs more in line so its not just warr/mage/rogue again. Until then thankfully there is tbc

That character is getting deleted long before you’d have to worry about where it goes.

Yes, where there is still both meme and OP class/specs. Just the ones you like right lol?

I’d mess with it, but being vanilla only… is a big no-no… I don’t blame OP at all.

your character doesnt get deleted they get transfered to the classic era servers where they will stay forever.

Like i get why BLizzard is doing this because this will repopulate those classic era servers but also; I want to play Classic and then progress and honestly would pay $20 to just move my character from Classic Era to TBC.

Id say “tell me you play a Warrior without telling me you play a Warrior” but i can see you posting on one. I’m not surprised

Odd I dont in SoM where this is relevant and I plan on mainly playing elemental.

if you are only playing SoM because you want to eventually play TBC… uh… maybe just go play TBC.

Congrats you picked a hybrid that can actually blow stuff up and is wanted in certain situations. Good for you

Blizz stated SoM player’s would be able to move to TBC .

No.

No they did not.

I hear ya. Got up around 30 on my Hunter and was just like…meh, too few changes, dead end. Gonna level some Alts for Wrath over on TBCC.

Class balance and higher XP bump would have added more appeal. Also Classic + content.

I quit SOM

oh

yeah that is what i am doing now.

if SOM was more like classic+ and shaked up the meta but it is pretty much the same game.

You know at some point I realized what I love about WoW, and the moments that keep me coming back, was fully experiencing new Class takes through the old world. I remember loving TBC, but then I remembered that most of my time was spent leveling to 70 as my Paladin and Druid during that time.

So while I really, really love the class changes in TBC, the experience itself, and for most of future xpacs, never really did it for me. Not really into the Raid scene outside of casual seeing, if its hard ill stick around a bit longer to see everything, if its easy ill see it and quit, but thats not what I love about WoW. I love the exploration, the wide open world, and seeing people out and about, not confined to instances and queues. This is honestly why I think Retail is bad, the leveling was honestly great the first time through in Shadowlands imo, but beyond that its just not great.

Anyways, I get how you feel. I however would be perfectly happy with changes or new raids with changes to classes to keep things fresh each season as thats really all I enjoy about the game and all I ever have enjoyed.
