I put time on my sub, instant regret

Anyone else experience this? I stayed subbed all through Legion and really enjoyed it. BFA has killed the guilds I’ve been in, turned off all of my friends to playing, and killed my own interest in the game. I had not played in over a month, saw 8.2 was dropping, and since I don’t really play too many other games I decided to give it a shot.

I will say the art and music once again knock it out of the park. Mechagon is pretty cool looking, and I dig what I view to be the gnomish tinkering feeling throughout (including the music!). I know some aren’t fans of Naz but personally I dig the look (for example, doing the elemental lord quest and seeing the dolphins swimming beyond the ocean barrier).

The game play, however, leaves much to be desired - it’s more of the same. I understand WoW includes grind - fine. I understand new reps take time - fine. But these two new areas just seem to continue the “WQs are chores” feeling that I burnt out on towards the end of Legion. The essences system seems “meh” and uninspiring to fix the prior problems with the system. And I’m not sure the new raid and dungeon will save this patch.

Overall, a few days in, 8.2 piqued my interest and quickly killed my desire to play the game. I regret adding sub time. Again, anyone else have this experience?

I cancelled my renewable 6 month sub last month and said 8.2 would decide if I renewed before it expires July 31st.

Considering it’s only day 2 of the new patch, I hate the zones, I’m already bored with the minimal-and-yet-still-gated content, all signs point to no re-sub at this point.

My brother unsubbed a month ago but bought a month for 8.2. He did it for one day, logged off, and said he’s officially done with WoW until next expansion.

Were you expecting a x.2 patch to completely change the game?

Has that ever happened in WoW’s history?

Of course it will build on more of the same from 8.0 and 8.1.

If you go into a patch not liking the game already, you aren’t going to change your mind.

Agreed. Definitely a good reason why I still haven’t logged back in.

I dunno why I feel compelled to do this, but I’ll just say I’m in much the same boat (although my sub didn’t require renewal).

That out of the way…

The turn of phrase is ‘piqued my interest’. I’ve seen peaked, perked, peeked… folks know the usage of the word, but never how to spell it.

I came back for flying. Once I have that I’m going to level my alt army until I’m bored with the game again and quit till the next patch.

Not going to bother with 9.0 because I despise not being able to fly.

I resubbed to finish Pathfinder Part 1 in preparation for Part 2… But with 8 days left I don’t think I can endure Blizzard’s spite this time around.

Quests by definition are chores. How would you have done it differently.

I am trying to understand all the animosity toward the BFA dailies and WQs, which are essentially the same thing executed slightly differently.

I entered this thread. Instant regret.

Yeah. Its weird. Dailies have been a central part of WoW for over a decade. But suddenly because they are in WQ format (which I find superior to the previous daily method in every way possible), they are suddenly bad. Because its BFA.

People by nature tend to devalue what they already have and overstate the value of what they don’t.

Once you recognize that, stuff like this becomes fairly clear.

I agree. I like WQs better because you just go to the spot on the map to get them, do the action, and boom it is over. Seems more streamlined to me.

On the flipside I do like reading quest text when I pick up and turn in quests.

Wow. That is an extremely astute observation.

:beers:

There were a few patches that were pretty wow. Sadly because of them they keep rehashing the same old chores. Maybe it’s because I expected something different. Well, let’s hope the raid and dungeon are fun.

Dailies aren’t bad if they are done right.

Why is it that I have no problem going back and doing old MOP dailies for mounts and such but dread BFA crap?

They feel way more rewarding. Youre getting hundreds or thousands of rep a day and can say in 12 more days I’ll be exalted.

Now compare that to the never ending world quests that give 75 rep, war resources or azerite etc. Grinding for azerite will never, ever feel compelling. Also, when you’re showered with gear, nothing feels rewarding.

So in short, if they feel meaningful and rewarding, dailies are fine. In BFA they don’t.

Im enjoying 8.2 but i took a 2 month break before this and did no bfa content the 3 montjs before that

the real reason is that the social aspect of wow has died. Theres no reason to group up or talk for anything anymore.

its lead to groups of friends dissolving and the game discouraging people from forming new friendships. Why group up really? mob tags are shared. mobs will never kill you. That right there is the reason people began talking and colliding. But the modern game removed that aspect of the game.

Hell its gotten so bad blizzard just gives us npc friends to play with.

This game was never about the content. It was about the content you made with your friends. The raids and quests were just vehicles.

So BFA dailies are bad because they shower you with gear, and nothing feels rewarding. Because they are too rewarding.

But BFA dailies are bad because they aren’t rewarding.

Yep, I was hoping for a camera upgrade and snapchat integration
so I can show off my latest slutwear :stuck_out_tongue:

As an aside, your character name is a testament to greatness.
