I prefer pugs

I dunno, /roll is just way more fun than any form of loot distribution. Sadly BWL on my server is not puggable.

If it were a Dear LiveJournal post, he’d be writing in Russian.

A lot of guilds /roll. Mine is one of them.

sounds like a bad time to be honest.

one of the reasons you join a guild is loot protection.

rolling allows anyone to show up and get an item even if they haven’t put in the same amount of effort or commitment as you.

Id rather just be done with the game than go through a /roll mess all the time. Winning things is fun, and that garbage system doesnt spread loot at all

I have the worst rolls, I’m glad my guild doesn’t do rolls or I’d never win anything.

We have two major safeguards in place to make it more fair. The first is what our guild calls a primary secondary system where if you really want something (I think other guilds call this MS > OS, although if that is different than what I am describing, please educate me) you roll primary first but you can only win one primary per raid. If no one wants to use a primary on an item it passes to secondary and anyone who can use it can roll. There are also rules about what classes can roll primary on what items. So, for example, certain items are useful to healers but really for DPS casters. Healers can’t roll primary on those items.

All in all it works out, and the luck evens out over time. I’d rather have that system than a loot council dictating who gets what.

Although, I’ve done some raiding with a guild that uses DKP, that may be my favorite system, it’s just not the one we use.

/roll is not fun at all when an Item that has a 5% drop rate gets rolled on by 15 people

Theres a bunch of different loot systems out there so no reason not to find a guild that works for you
