As the tittle says i played the wow classic stress test servers today and i gotta say i am over the moon with it and excited to try this new experience in the game!
But one thing is missing and its bugging the heck out of me, and you know whats missing you say?
Ahab Wheathoof
This NPC was added as part of 10 year old boy’s request from Make-A-Wish foundation before his passing.
whether he was there in vanilla or not, i still say the npc should still be added in in memory of the boy.

I support this fully. I understand he was added later during Burning Crusade along with the corresponding Gladiator 2H sword but this feels right.

If it wasn’t in vanilla, why would it be added to classic?

Because it was a requests from a dying boy to have his own npc on his favorite game.
Why should they not add it?

You could prob take both sides to this and be right. Just add it, who cares.

It’s still in retail, isn’t it? Why add it to classic if it wasn’t there in classic?

This is a museum piece of how the game existed in its 1.12 state. Emotions shouldn’t dictate what goes into the game when we know exactly what NPCs were and weren’t in 1.12.

Impartial.
On one hand, it’s a Make A Wish thing. On the other hand, was it in the game at 1.12?
“I want Vanilla WoW!.. But with BC Stuff!”

Honestly when I read the title I thought it was going to say something like “Boars in Elwynn Forest!” or “Wolves in Dun Morogh!”
I get it. This was not there during the 1.12 patch, which is what Classic is reproducing. Staying faithful to classic means not arbitrarily adding things like that.
All I’m saying is that “if” they decided to add this, and other similar memorials, at some point that I would support it.

Well it’s a slippery slope that would lead them to retail in the end. Everything they added, they added for a reason…
The NPC is in retail, nothing was taken away from the wish imo.

The npc and the quest itself has nothing to do with BC, it is a memorial of a kid with cancer. Why is it a huge problem to add something in a game that was made for the players when it was a player that made a wish of it?
even more so when it was a 10 year old child?

Really gonna whine over this.

Because his wish was never removed. He got his wish for the retail version of the game, and it still exists to this day.
Classic is different. He wasn’t in vanilla. If we get tbc servers he will be there though.

How is this whining?
I didn’t see something that i believe should be there and wanted to share my opinion of it to see if others share the same thought?
Edit for error.

Because its already in retail?

No. It wasn’t in Vanilla, so it doesn’t belong in Classic.

This was added in patch 1.12:

Pretty sure that covers the need for this.
Edit: Hmm. WoWhead SAYS it was added in 1.12, but all of the earliest comments are from WotLK, so WoWhead might be wrong on this one. I still don’t think every memorial thing needs to be added to Classic. They still exist in Retail.

It’s because your didn’t see anything missing from the recreated 1.12 that was there in actual 1.12. So the thread subject line itself is inaccurate.
You could change it to “Wasn’t in 1.12 but I’d love to see it in classic anyway”

Whining, complaining, demanding on why it isn’t it in classic that it should. When it was added in TBC and on top it’s still in retail. Just because it’s not in classic doesn’t ruin or justify it to be added. Besides it was never in Classic back in the day…so really why are you going on and on about it. This just shows to me you whining on something that has 0 effect on a game. I feel bad for the poor boy and happy it’s in retail. That’s all that matters. Why should it matter if it’s not in classic…? Seriously over one npc.
I should whine that stan lee inst’t in classic then…see show silly this is.
The devs have enough on their hands. They don’t need more over one npc…seriously.

i find it funny you are still calling it whining or even demanding, when i’m just having a normal conversation on a topic i have interest in.
i see what everyone point of view is, its in the retail game, okay. Cool, but its still a memorial or someone that loved the game? And same with every other memorials they have added.
i believe just because it was not in vanilla doesn’t mean Devs and everyone should drop the morals and not add them cuz ‘lulz its not in vanilla’ mindset.
these people are dead, they should be respected regardless.
Whether they really add it or not, it would be just disappointing if they don’t.
