I don’t know how people feel about this but I decided to ask, my entire WoW journey I’ve played on RP realms even though I very, very VERY rarely RP, I think making TRP profiles is fun but thats about the max I’ll go with it, maybe some interactions with people but thats about it.
I play on Moon-guard and Wyrmrest Accord, I really do enjoy the more chill communities of RP servers, RPer’s tend to make the main cities feel much more alive and I like seeing them do their thing. While Moonguard seems a bit more off the walls and hectic then Wyrmrest Accord I do both like the servers quite a bit.
Who knows, maybe I am roleplaying and I just don’t know it, as a silent heroic fighter for the alliance or horde fighting off all the monsters of the world to keep the cities safe. I dunno point is you guys are cool.
Besides you Goldshire… Yes you, Sorry you can be funny sometimes but the DMs you guys send me are nightmare fuel /ignore list is crazy long.

Yes, being out in the world and engaging the story and the quests and the gameplay is a valid type of roleplaying! There’s a reason WoW is part of the MMO RPG genre and not some other type of MMO. The roleplay of being a character in the Wacraft universe, whether or not you’re on a roleplay server or interacting with the ‘official’ roleplay community, is part of the appeal and why we’re playing this specific game and not a litany of other MMOs. If you ever want to go any deeper many people are here to help you bridge that gap, but if you’re on these servers just for the environment and sense of community without dipping your toes any further, we all are fine with that and support that too.

I know lotsa people who don’t RP but prefer RP realms! In some games the rules are more strict, so people feel safer on an RP realm than they do on a regular PvE/PvP server. Others may hang around just for the ambience.
That was my original reason for coming to WrA. My original server was dead af, but I didn’t wanaa be on a regular server, so I looked at the famous WrA and Moon Guard so I could enjoy some player made ambience while I leveled.

When I initially played on WRA in WOD and Legion on my hunter, I never rped. I just enjoyed the community. I left during Legion to main elsewhere but recently (Nov) I made a return, realizing the rp community was home even if I didn’t rp.
Tho now I have opened up to the idea of rping. I work on trps, I join in the occasional random rp when people interact with me and I feel as if a whole new game world opened to me.
WRA has always seemed to welcome non rpers as long as you don’t purposely disrupt rp. Don’t think it’s wrong at all to not rp but know it’s there if you ever choose to!

I came to this realm in MoP because I wanted a realm where people were actually interested in the story and wanted to talk about it. In Cata, every new patch I’d be excited about the latest story beat whereas everyone around me only cared about their class being nerfed xD I had no knowledge of or interest in RP. I just wanted to hang around lore nerds.
In the end I tried RP and loved it so here we are. But point being, I don’t think there’s any issue with being on an RP realm without RPing. The more the merrier!

Live and let live. I was a roleplayer for the longest time, but kind of fell out of love with it during late BfA for various reasons. I’m guilty of switching my TRPs to joke ones at the time (I think my Monk’s class was set to Failed OnlyFans Model) but I never disrupted any events. I think that’s about the baseline - not just because I did it, but because nobody (well adjusted) thinks there’s ever going to be a 100% RP server, but would love it if you didn’t drop annoying toys in the middle of their own poignant scenes.

The simple act of not RPing literally doesn’t hurt anyone.
Plenty of people log in to RPservers, do their own thing then log off, and I’m pretty sure RPers don’t even notice them. It’s still a unique server environment even without RPing added on (I mean you still have the right wing andys in trade but that is easily ignored).
There are still plenty of diverse types of players here that just don’t intersect at all and are blissfully unaware of each other’s existence.
Do what you want to do as long as you’re not harming others is a good strategy to live by no matter where you are.

Yeah as long as you aren’t interfering with people who do RP, then you are more than welcome to wallflower. And maybe someday you might even give it a shot! I had never RPed anything before coming to WrA but I wanted to be on a realm where people cared about the story. Also, the world feels that much more alive with players acting out their characters all around you.
I can’t blame you for wanting to be here. People are generally nicer on RP realms. We have our share of jerks like anywhere, but compared to other realms we’re utopia. Welcome!

Why I just transferred last night

I created Alliance toons on Moon Guard in Cata then moved all my Horde toons in MoP to escape CRZ (or as much of it as I could.)
I never RP.
Ugh sorry guys. I don’t know why I randomly get WRA threads in my Suggested Topics. I don’t have any characters on this server.

I only roleplay to entertain people, and to that end I RP the stupidest things imaginable on top of quest turn in spots:
so if you see me out in the world saying
Crikey! That mother Phestis is one big Sheila! Lookit the legs on her, and that abdomen brings all the arachnids to the yard!"
Just know that your stunned silence is all that I need to stay alive. Thank you.

Hey, another WA player!
Though I understand the not RPing on an RP realm, that has been how I always have been. Partly due to being to nervous to RP with other people.

Neutral.
People chase populations and roleplay servers are notably, and surprisingly active with PVE and PVP content. People will do whatever they can to look fancy for their roleplay scenes. You’ll find our Auction Houses pretty plentiful with items and gear to choose from. Though the rate of success can vary from server to server.
My only desire from non-roleplayers is that they respect the roleplay communities and don’t grief them. We’re on a server meant for that sort of interactions, should be no reason why you step onto our turf and ruin our fun. (Not you in particular, but those who do.)

What if you RP…as someone who’s not RPing.
What then.

My husband used to play on WrA, and he never really RPed. He filled out TRP but that was about as much as he’d do. He just liked the immersiveness of RP servers and the sense of community. As others have said, so long as you aren’t griefing RPers then you are fine.

So to everyone who stands around and watches, but doesnt rp.
how do you handle someone who emotes at you? do you ignore them? walk off like Snape?
Did he end up quitting wow or quitting WRA? a lot of my toons are on moonguard but I think I might transfer (yes even the alliance ones cause it seems like the alliance pop is decent there) to WRA cause moonguard is really hectic and chaotic and just the fact gold shire is still there people come into stormwind city and cause so much drama all the time, I dont even RP and its annoying.
