I pay $12 for FFXIV. Why pay $15 for Classic?

WoW… tinfoil hat much? Its a free addition to your sub. People will complain about anything.

Any money that you pay to Blizzard for any product will do this, so in reality, you don’t want to pay for Classic WoW because then you’ll be funding projects you don’t like.

I’m only paying $7.50 for Classic.

I understand your point here but keep in mind that Classic is the game for some people. To me Retail is the free addition.

$15/month is an incredibly good value for either game independently. If you plan on playing both it’s a steal.

Wow classic is the only game I want to play…I dabble in retail from time to time…guess I’m in the minority, where most people play lots of games and consoles. To each his own.

It’s time you come to terms with not wanting to pay for classic, just stick to private servers, seriously just get lost and play on a private server clearly blizzard wont/can’t/didn’t cater to your needs so you should be an adult grow up and move on.

don’t keep playing final fantasy we don’t want your kind.

There’s no conspiracy about it, that’s EXACTLY why they are introducing WoW Classic and why they’re tying it to a retail sub. This is a ploy (albeit an entertaining one) to keep people subbed to WoW.

That’s no big secret.

Why is this such a surprise to the people posting in this forum?

Nah, it does a lot of things right. The character and gear progression is done much better than current BFA.

I like both games and I will continue to play both games, when I get bored of one I can sub to the other for awhile. Like right now BFA is kind of meh, I can go play FFXIV and catch up there.

They are ultimately not as different as some people may think.

Correct.

But it makes perfect sense, being as that Classic will just be a server archetype and not a completely different game.

  1. I’m having a really difficult time understanding what the point of this would be?

  2. What’s the benefit of forcing Classic to try and survive on its own before Blizzard has even an iota of data to figure out if it can be profitable by itself?

Love the assumption that I ever played on a private server. As for “growing up and being an adult”, wanting a classic only sub option is not the same as “Whaaaa, I don’t want to pay for Classic, let me play it for free and pay $0.” or “OMG you disagree with my position or what Blizzard has said so I’m going to attack you for it because I can’t come up with a reasoned argument.”

And I get that’s a possibility, but if that’s the case, that’s contrary to what people keep saying “Just don’t download modern wow” That means to play Classic people who will never touch Modern WoW will have to download Modern WoW to get Classic.

Blizzard likely has estimations of how many people that expect to play Classic. If it wasn’t projected to be profitable they wouldn’t have done it in the first place. If Blizzard wants to give an option to have both games in 1 sub, I’m fine with that. All I am asking for is a Classic only option.

Nah. If it’s like the demo, it will be a modified client (like the PTR), so you’ll just need the one client, and won’t ever have to install the expanded game if you don’t want to.

I didn’t assume you played, i stated you should stick to private servers, the rest of your rant falls back into -be an adult and move on, you can come back if/when the game suits your needs-

That’s also a possibility, I don’t think we have enough information to know either way. But if that is how it turns out, I don’t see the issue with giving a Classic only sub option. By all means, keep the combined sub for people who may play both.

More options,is not always a good thing, they cause clutter and offering a separate sub for no reason other that ‘’ i don’t want my money going to retail’’ which is what most people (read:most) cling to when asking for a separate sub and even a separate sub with a higher price tag,it’s pointless you are literally grasping at straws to complain about here, your suggestion has been heard and rejected return upon release and make a choice then.

stares intently Nope… don’t see blue. Clearly you are not a Blizzard employee, let a lone a decision maker. So you don’t decide what has and hasn’t been rejected.

As far as your claim having multiple sub options would cause clutter. Please clarify how it would cause clutter. Because database programs and programs that read those databases don’t really care.

It’s really just a matter of adding a column in the database for sub type and telling the program how to fill in that column. WoW Sub or Classic Sub. Then telling the database program that reads it, how to report that additional information. Which ends up being just a few additional lines in the report. “Total WoW Subs = W”, “Revenue from WoW Subs = X” “Total Classic Subs = Y”, and “Revenue from Classic Subs = Z”.

Projected to be profitable and profitable as a standalone product are two very different things.

As I’ve said previously, Classic is being viewed as a value added benefit to boost the consumer’s perceived value of a subscription to World of Warcraft. Blizzard doesn’t think Classic can stand alone.

And I understand that that upsets some people and people would rather be paying less than $15 a month but this is the reality in which we find ourselves.

True, and push comes to shove, the sub is not going to make or break my decision to play Classic. I’ve been paying $15 a month for a sub to one game or another for 12+ years now. That being said, even is there is a 1x10^-30 (scientific notation, look it up) chance that enough voices will cause Blizzard to consider a Classic only option, it’s still a higher chance then the 0, if no one says anything.

Rolling Classic access into the basic WoW sub is a brilliant move honestly. A lot of players will resub to play Classic who would not resub for current WoW. Because of the ‘sub to one you sub to both’ thing, it also means they can “show” the current WoW as being more successful than it actually is because it all comes down in the end to the money. This will make their shareholders happy and should help bring the stock back up and keep it more stable.
