I pay $12 for FFXIV. Why pay $15 for Classic?

Blizzard is going to charge us $15 for a revived build of the game that already has all of its content created for it because they know they can get away with it. WoW is still one of the prime tyrants when it comes to MMORPGs, so its competitors would likely try to have lower costs than it in order to compete.

Don’t look for reasoning or sympathy here. Some vanilla fans are sheeple that are willing to throw comparative pricing out of the window and would be okay with spending an inordinate amount of money on Classic just because they love the vanilla era. Some wouldn’t even care if the monthly cost for Classic was $20, $25 or even higher; they would still jump at the game because they love it.

Sure, individually, people have different senses of value and expensiveness. Individually, some of these people don’t care about the opinions of others when it comes to their love for the game and how much they are willing to pay to play it. However, these people need to wake up and realize that the cost of the game affects everyone, not just them. Millions of people can afford to play this game very easily, but that doesn’t mean that the game can’t be comparatively expensive to similar products.

I, personally, am at the end of my threshold for tolerating the cost required to play WoW: Classic, but not passed it; I am barely tolerating it. If WoW: Classic had a separate $15 sub or if the monthly fee for the now combined pricing model (getting access to both versions of WoW through the current sub) was increased to account for WoW: Classic’s inclusion, I wouldn’t ever consider touching WoW: Classic in both scenarios and I would likely quit playing WoW entirely if the latter occurred.

……but it’s not. There is only one cost for both games making it quite a bargain, IMO.

The “sheeple” insult was really below the belt and frankly not even close to sensible considering how long people have been wanting Blizzard to take the time and money, hire the employees, do the R&D to put Classic back together and set up servers, maintenance and everything else that goes along with an online mmo service. That is before you even get into the costs of expacs that Classic won’t be needing.

Nothing is free, dude

OK, so take your $15 a month (for constant access to, not one, but TWO games) and buy a movie ticket for about an hour and a half of entertainment, instead.

You will have to go alone, because most theaters charge so much for tickets that you can only afford only ticket.

And…don’t make any trips to the concession counter.
The price of soda, popcorn and candy will bust your $15 budget to smithereens.

When your $15 worth of an hour and a half of entertainment is done, then you have the whole month to figure out what other forms of entertainment are available and how much they may cost.

WOW is a bargain, if you enjoy the game, for a monthly entertainment budget.

Classic is a bargain at $15 a month, if you enjoy the game, for a monthly entertainment budget.

If it is that difficult to figure out if playing a game, with unlimited access, for an entire month, is worth $15, then you aren’t really that interested in Classic to begin with.

Maybe you are not Blizzards target audience.

Have fun playing whatever else floats your boat. I just can’t figure out why you came here to tell us that you think it is too expensive…for you…when most of us, I would guess, think that $15 a month is a bargain to play what many players have been begging Blizzard to give them for years.

I just missed Classic. I got in (was dragged in by my kids and grandkids) at the very beginning of BC. I am really looking forward to going back to experience what missed in Classic.

Not meaning to sound harsh. Hey, it is a game and like any other form of entertainment there is a cost and when you consider what most entertainment choices cost today, WOW really is a bargain.
