I paid for it I should get it without grinding

Its not “handing out” stuff when I paid for the new races. I quit for over a year because of how horrible legion was and only came back because the new xpac looked fun and I believed I was getting the new races as part of my purchase. if it was just for new content I would have just waited till next xmas when they reduced the price. the $50 price was only justified if all advertised additions are included at time of purchase. Oh and not everyone goes searching the web for info on xpacs. It should have been made clear the requirements on the purchase page.

i didnt really feel i grinded for rep. i just geared for raids and ploop, exalted with everything. though torts took longer. also, if it looked fun, why didnt you play it? if you did youd probably have enough rep by now without grinding.

OP is not wrong on one thing. If you make sales of an expansion by advertising two new races, they should playable with no effort.

Should have read the fine print OP…

entropy. remember when you could buy a console that had factory bundled more than one controller, a full version game, and the necessary cables to hook it up to your TV?

it’s not just in video games, more an more consumer items are headed down the nickel and diming pathway

Except we don’t live in an idealistic world. Ethical recommendation is rarely considered especially among businesses whose sole purpose of existence is to make money. Prudential judgement, or what can be done given the circumstances, reigns supreme because our laws allow fine print to circumvent ethics. It was well known the allied races would not be available upon launch.

I have zero sympathy for the OP, learn to read

Do you think every mount/apperance should be unlocked because you paid money? Lol

From the purchase page (emphasis mine):
“Purchase Battle for Azeroth and begin your quest to recruit four new playable Allied Races. Heroes of the Horde can enlist the Highmountain Tauren and Nightborne, and champions of the Alliance can add the Lightforged Draenei and Void Elves to their ranks.”

The issue here as I’ve said in the past is precedant. In the passed, new expacs that introduced new races were handed out for free. You could roll a dranei, worgan, panda etc. The moment you paid for the expac. Now there’s this supposed difference with ‘allied races’ that make them work differently. But I ask you, is it really that surprising to think that rather then for any particular lore reason, the real reason why there’s a massive grind to get them is for time played metrics due to the large decline in sub numbers when compared to the time period of the aforementioned expacs? Is that really an unreasonable theory?

Think about it this way, why hasn’t Blizz introduced a new race like previous original races that is not tied to any existing one like the allied races? Is it because they would have to give it out immediately with the expac purchase since you couldn’t make a lore excuse?

I paid for the expansion, so I should get all the gear in it without grinding too then right?

You paid for the opportunity to get access to the new races, not for the races to be given to you. If you want to play them, grind it out like the rest of us.

Bait and switch. Blizzard got ya good. They’ve mastered the idea that you’ll want to unlock those races so you’ll play more. The longer it takes the longer you’ll be subbed to the game. Then, they get you again by basically saying, “remember that awesome armor we showed you? Yeah, you gotta level to 110 to get that. Good luck…”

Were does it say there is a required massive grind?? I would be fine if it was a storyline that took an hour or two to enlist them but a grind to exalted with multiple factions is bull.

I finished the zandalari rep months ago…its not that hard

WERE??? I dont see any mention of having to get exalted rep to use the races I paid for.

Why is that so?
If I buy a new video game I don’t expect to have access to the final level without doing all the ones previous.
I don’t expect all the character upgrades without meeting the prerequisites or the purchasing system.

Why should WoW be any different?

What a boring worthless world we would live in if everything was just given to us. Why would we work towards anything? Seems pretty apathetic to me.

The fact that they advertised them should have incited you to complete that content so that you could unlock them.
It should have been goal.

Fixed it for you.

It’s only the one faction actually.

The only issue I had with legion really wasn’t actually anything to do with the expansion. What I mean by this is the whole flying fiasco, mob scaling, and forced CRZ/Sharding. Again none of those really relate to the content of legion itself just changes made to the game at that time. I guess the terrain was annoying to navigate but that goes back to the war on flight.

I think it was crappy how they handled the legion allied races but I don’t so much care about the BFA ones. What bugs me about the legion allied races is they were part of patch 7.3, they revolved around the Legion storyline/lore, but then they required you to buy BFA to grind them out. I feel like with the original allied races they should have either given them to you without a grind but required BFA, or they should have required a grind but not BFA. Also the advertising for them for returning players who bought BFA and came back while not playing legion was deceptive. Many people thought they would simply buy BFA and could roll a new race.

People can claim “Well it was their own fault not researching it online” or “The box/site said you had to unlock them”. Well for the first one not everyone, especially someone who hadn’t played in awhile, visits and interacts on the forums daily (or at all). Also when you look at the past new races they were available the moment content went live.

For the second the basic advertising for them that you saw on box or on the store page was you could complete a quest to earn favor with them. Well again when you look at older races/classes it wasn’t uncommon to do a short questline. Pandas have their own starting area, DeathKnights, Demon Hunters, etc. As far as lore is concerned doing these quests unlocks their loyalty to your faction. When somebody reads this they don’t figure it will require grinding to exalted rep and completing a long timegated questline (looking at you argus reps). Furthermore it also doesn’t imply you will be doing all of this in obsolete content with nerfed rewards. I mean if you at least did the unlock content in BFA it would be passive to leveling up your main.

So while I had them all unlocked passively before BFA launched I can see the frustration people had with this. Unlike many on these forums I understand just because it wasn’t an issue for me doesn’t mean its not an issue for others.

Wow! The new races look so cool! I can’t wait to play them!

Oh, they’re locked behind rep? I guess that’s fine, I passively get exalted with every reputation now so I’ll get them eventually…

What’s that? they’re delayed? Aww shoot, atleast they look really cool. Hope they come out soon enough. Would be better if there was actual content to do in the game while I waited though.

…WHAT DO YOU MEAN ZANDALARI CAN’T BE DKS?!
