I only started classic because retail was so pitifully bad

I started classic for all the same reasons. But I met a cool group and even though I’m enjoying shadowlands I’m also enjoying naxx

Maybe I am one of the few who like both for different reasons

Subjective. A friend convinced me to try it. I found leveling to be boring, so much so that I had to push myself to log in. Then seeing all the systems at level 60 and knowing there would be more, was a nope.
I uninstalled the damn thing.

It is. You can literally die to kobolds if you pull more than one or don’t know your way inside the cave. Literally everything must be planned ahead, deaths are heavily punished, and an unlucky spawn can force a reset.

Well, depends on your class, I guess. What I described above was levelling as a warrior. When I levelled a mage I could just pull a whole island of murlocs and none would touch me.

Oh, come on, retail content is a joke. Literally everyone can log in and see everything there is to be seen within a week.

Retail would improve massively if there was only Mythic difficulty. I’m not a very good player, my guild literally wiped 1000 times on Argus, but anyone can see Heroic and below is just a colossal waste of time.

What do you think happens in retail? Do you think you can pull 5+ mobs and live? And if you die you just /wish and you get res’d, fully buffed where you died?

I mean… :woman_shrugging:t2: :man_shrugging:t2:

Dude, I levelled as a prot warrior and a frost mage both in Legion and BFA, and that’s literally what you can do. Charge into 6 mobs and barely take damage.

Unless that part changed in Shadowlands.

Leveling in Classic isn’t challenging. Not much more than retail is anyway; even as a warrior.

Especially not if you already have a max level character. Just keep some food/bandages on hand at all times and your gear up to date.

You’re making classic leveling sound like it’s Dark Souls or something when it’s closer to Breath of the Wild at most.

Ya sadly I like the idea of classic more than classic itself.
I really wish they would just add all the content from classic back into the modern game with chromie time.

That would be my ideal situation.

The modern game just has so many qualities to it that are impossible to ignore, even if you don’t like the gameplay or systems.

What ultimately turned me off was the community in classic though. People just can’t seem to play the game for fun anymore, and trying to bring elitism to a 16 year old product is just being childish in my eyes.

I really wanted to enjoy classic, and I still do, but shadowlands especially is just better in every possible way other than lacking the zones and stuff that have been removed.

I thought I did, but I didn’t.

Try leveling as a no spec warrior in shadowlands! I just completed one to 60, was very fun and felt like classic only with a lot more spells to think about using well.

The biggest elitists I’ve seen while playing Classic by far are the retail trolls who come here and talk about how skilled they are.

In game and on my server I’ve gotten along with almost everyone. I don’t tend to play much with elitist types so that is mostly irrelevant.

What qualities does the modern game have? I literally can’t think of one quality. Outside of raid difficulty. Ok I got one. That’s the only one.

I played for 12 years straight and quit because it got so bad. I came back for Legion and BFA and quit quickly because those didn’t improve anything. Shadowlands hasn’t improved anything enough either for me to bother with it. I loved WoW for the longest time but it sadly went away from what I loved about it. It now has no server community and it’s become a single player RPG with a group element.

CRZ and no server communities are what destroyed what is fun about WoW the most but you clearly don’t like playing games with communities and would rather play most of the game solo and only group when you feel like it so none of this would matter to you.

Anyway you became MVP by loving the direction Blizzard took the game so what are you’re doing here?

Entirely subjective point of view.

This is like saying going to a theme park is better than a national park. The idea that you like your guided tours and rides is fine but for people that want to go out and explore or climb a mountain walk a trail they will NEVER get that.

Shadowlands is that theme park right down to the carny Mini Games that feel like your getting ripped off for low quality items.

Wow classic may not have those systems and i am glad for that. I think many others are too.

I could list dozens of things but I can tell I would be wasting my time based on your reply.

I am not talking about difficulty though. I am talking about things like spell animations and visual quality.

The classic gameplay is sound, and I enjoy much of the content, but I do not like that I am playing it in an inferior client with less options.

I would happily play all that content using the new character models and animations in a heartbeat if it was in the live game though.

Yes, that’s correct. I only gave my opinion there.
Sorry if there was some confusion.

its ok someone told me that love was the answer and its not that
i believe it . I WANT TO BELIEVE !

I LOVE YOU

You really need someone that write in green to say that kind of stuff… So much animation that you have no idea what the guy doing. Classic duel tournament are more fun to watch than retail arena.

Dude am feeling good right why do bring all this hate . OMG THE CASH STORE aaaaaaarg am suffering.

PLZ no more no more

Im playing both shadowlands and classic at the moment and one thing is painfully obvious. There is WAY more social interactions in classic. I could argue that dungeons are more fun too, it feels less like a speedrun and more tedious.

That’s just due to your lack of familiarity with the spells, right?
Its not like the animations are randomized or something.
Once you learn what they correspond to, you won’t feel this way.

Ok, so stuff that is completely irrelevant to any enjoyment I would get out of the game.

I enjoyed playing text-based muds and BBS doors and stuff back in the day. There were single-player games with decent graphics and sound at the time but these more multiplayer games were more fun as they involved other people.

Anyway, we all have different opinions I can see why yours is what it is if graphics and music are big parts of why you play.

Oh ya, they are a HUGE part of the experience for me for sure.

Except for layers of RNG and lack of player decisions that affect your character and abilities.

I can’t stand retail and I may never play it again. I can’t stand what they did to that game.

Saying that Shadowlands is good is wonderful, but I hear that after every expansion release. People actually tried to say that BFA was good for months before realizing how terrible of an expansion it was.

Check in 6 months to see how people like it.

I simply like classic. It’s a simpler game frozen in time.
