Why can’t we ever have a meaningful time period where hpal is the best or one of the strongest healers?
Maybe bias, but I feel like every other healer meta is given the green light to go on for 3-6 months at a time, if not most of the expansion, and in every expansion.
Hpal is meta for 2 months after rework, and for the first time since late BfA, and the forums lose their mind.
Buffs when?
We had a hpally meta season this xpac. It seems like rdruid and priest are the most consistent healers in the AWC tho.
Yeah but wasn’t it just like 2 months? Then bam nerf, bam another nerf, and so on until we sucked again.
PS: word of glory still feels horrible to press, as does flash of light.

They need to do something with repentance. Compared to other healer utility it’s not enough
I’d settle for my heals moving health bars slightly to the right outside of wings and daybreak holy shocks.
Maybe stop leaving all your shuffle matches and they might buff hpal. JUST maybe.
If only that were true. I have admittedly left a lot of shuffles lately, but only when dps are toxic. I really need to remember to disable chat again.
Some dps players just don’t get it.
You telling me how much I suck (which is usually/often true, but I don’t need to hear it from some random tween that is at the same mmr as me, with a bigger player pool at that inflating them) = me laughing irl, ignoring + reporting you, and then deriving pleasure from knowing that you now either have to stop playing the game or sit another 20-40 minute queue.
When you are toxic and I do stay, that just = me playing worse in most cases, especially when you are on my team, because at that point I don’t want to help you win.
DH/Caster dampening meta worst meta. Even 10.0.7 Ret meta is preferable.
Maybe I’m just making stuff up but… hpal feels like one of the easiest healers to NOT make a game costing mistake on. They have potent defensives that you cycle through and outside of the occasional hoj, there’s not as much reason to push in or do offensive things on the spec. As such, when hpal is the best healer, the game can feel incredibly damp and boring. So yeah, I can see why people hate if the spec is top tier.
None of this to say there aren’t exceptionally good hpallies out there. Just feels like the nature of the spec is very defensive. I remember constant threads about how insanely long every single shuffle round was when hpal got reworked. People wanna zug and go next.
Hpal is strongest in a meta where games end quickly. Definitely not what is happening right now.
Fair enough, but I feel like any healer being the best healer leads to these type of games though.
Hpal has to risk the most to do damage, does some of the worst damage if you can’t pump denounces, and honestly has the weakest utility in the game at this point considering everyone and their mother can purge/dispel the vast majority of our tool kit.
Yeah I suppose this is true. I preferred the pace of game much more in s1-s2. Last season and this one feel depressingly slow.
I cant even imagine how you 3v3ers can stomach 9-10 minute games right now.
One of the things I like about hpal metas (even from dps perspective), is that double caster rarely seems to be a thing.
I wouldn’t mind if they made the format of wow arena restricted to e.g., healer/melee/ranged (so no more double melee or double caster).

dang was it great then? Yeah I missed that season, so I guess I missed out. I leveled/geared a mage first and didn’t really get to pvp much on it because no one wanted to take a frost mage for anything.
Didn’t really get to play much hpal til late s3, but overall that expansion was an L for my tastes, so didn’t play it that much.

It was back when divine toll was added and the ability was overtuned. Every other healer had issues with mana and topping people but hpal had free divine toll that topped everyone on a short CD
Yeah in season one it was insane
like 95% of healers above 2k
then they nerfed it like 3 weeks before the season ended and rdruid hpriest ended up being the best

ah gotcha. Yeah I think due to how alt unfriendly SL was, that I didn’t get my paladin geared and caught up until the best playstyle was necrolord light of dawn topping people.
That playstyle felt okay, maybe even strong in some situations, but hated it/didn’t feel like it was broken. Felt clunky to me more than anything.
