I miss Visions

They were pretty darn neat to gear up as solo player.

Torghast should have dropped decent-ish gear just like visions.

That would have made it worth running, for sure.

Not sure why they didn’t give Torghast a carrot. Probably would have been better received if they did.

Visions were very fun as a Destro Lock

In term of fun Torghast never ever even came close and Visions were rewarding gear too witch was cool.

The greatest failings of Torghast was it didn’t drop gear like the visions.

They should have added it from the start in a solo mode. :frowning:

Don’t worry, torghast and everything else in this expansion will be fun in the very last week of the expansion as it always is. Now you might be thinking “why not put the fun part at the beginning of the expansion?” Don’t be ridiculous, we’re talking about blizzard here.

I liked them too, mainly because i wasn’t forced to do them since i had other gearing avenues and i could choose to do them for fun if i wanted to work towards the backpack cosmetic. The cloak corruption resistance upgrades absolutely did not feel like whatever torgast’s legendaries did

Torgast missed the mark for me when it become a chore i had to do to be able to play my preferred content
The entire legendary system of 9.0 was actually just outright so terrible that torgast can never be redeemed for me at this point tbh

Torghast would’ve been amazing if it had a decent reward structure. But they will literally ruin every other experience for the sake of making Mythic Plus appealing.

I would have run it a lot more if it had a gearing path. Might have even pushed myself a bit to try higher floors.

I enjoy torghast and would have enjoyed it more had it been like visions. Either have gear drop or toss out some tokens that let us upgrade the the covenant sets up to normal raid ilvl. All of shadowlands I probably had the most fun collecting those covenant sets. The ardenweld one was super fun in torghast getting a lot of those little helpers spawn.

The only problem with visions was the cost of entry. Other than that the tree from MOTHER was a nice way to progress through it and gear up for it. Was able to complete solo 5 mask runs over time.

I hated the timer, the pressure and the whole experience of visions. I was forced to run it to get optimal gear and hated every run

Like Torghast it got annoying after a few months . I just did the achieve and stopped .

Torghast became a chore for currency that we were grinding out twice per week for weeks on end. Per toon mind you.

I keep hearing it is “better”.

At this point, though I’m got so burnt out by it in 9.0 that I just don’t want to even give it a chance to be honest. I don’t care how good it is, I was forced to see it enough times (4 toons I like to keep active).

Yes, as Visions were a sort of testing ground for content like Torghast, and in Shadowlands Beta Torghast was dropping placeholder gear. I bought this expansion assuming that there would be this cool new way to gear up, that WoW was finally innovating on its endgame.

Rhetorical questions:

Were devs afraid that many players would do Torghast instead of raids if it provided endgame gear progression? If so, devs should have just let players enjoy Shadowlands their own way, and Blizzard would not have to admit that raiding participation is shamefully low.

Or were devs afraid that raiders would complain about being forced to do Torghast for progression? If so, that would be ironic as in the end raiders felt forced to do Torghast for the legendary mats.

A lot of people hated them and either went on break for the rest of the expansion or just did old content. I think blizzard thought that if they were the only new content for the patch, everybody would have to do them, including casuals who would have no choice but to git gud. But who decided it was optional and didn’t take that option.

Well, surprise. While the original announcement about Torghast made it sound like it was going to be like Visions, gear and all, I feel that what happened was they decided to make it mandatory. No Torghast, no legendary, no play. Then casuals would HAVE to do it. And git gud.

Sooner or later they realized that if this was going to be a hard gate into Shadowlands content that would lock out a lot of people who couldn’t or had no intention of gitting gud, it couldn’t be super hard. So they nerfed it, and since players who did it easy mode didn’t deserve gear, they removed that.

Yes, Torghast should have dropped gear and NOT legendary mats (unless also obtainable from other sources).

Shadowlands devs put the wrong carrot on the stick, because everything is now designed around min-max competitive players.

Visions were fun. Maybe N’zoth can come back and we can get an Ironforge and Thunderbluff version!

They actually made it worse in regard to that, by making the legendary crafting so prohibitive that only those who played the AH game would be able to afford crafting which drove up the prices of the base materials so many people simply abandoned the whole legendary system entirely. (I know I did, only created legendaries on two toons and the rest just had pure Korthia gear.)

Torghast dropping nothing but soul ash and later cinders just wasn’t appealing. I actually find Torghast fun with the right class and if the power drops are some of the fun ones, but there is little point to it.

If I’m not pursuing legendaries, why do Torghast at all? It doesn’t drop anything of note that’s worth the trouble and that’s Blizzard design in a nutshell. They really have absolutely no clue on how to make a cohesive game. It’s like someone having a great pair of pants and then putting it on their head.

Visions are what I thought Torghast will be minus the Corruptions resistance requirements.
