I Miss The Old Way of Crafting

It’s probably just nostalgia, but I miss being able to just gather or purchase materials and craft items without complicated levels or quality. I disliked the changes that came with Legion and really disliked everything they did with dragonflight. I don’t even bother to craft anymore. I know the system is never going to revert, but I just felt like venting.

Ah yes, the time when crafting was all BoP and mostly useless beyond the first patch.

I don’t like either one.

We all miss the good days of crafting professions.

Why not just buy all r3 mats and pretend it’s the old system.

Most of it wasn’t BoP, it was just… Lower than quest gear at the level you could equip it.

I don’t count the “I wasted money on the AH” starter pack gear. Anything semi-decent for the first tier was usually BoP though.

I do not miss mindless droolfest AFK crafting that was mostly BoP stuff, no.

“Most” I know love the new system, but feel the same as I do: it needs a few tweaks. And that’s anecdotal. We don’t know how many like it.

And I hard disagree that this is “hot garb.” It’s more RPG interactive and great.

me too once I saw how it was in dragon flight I said hell no lol. It’s just a way to boost wow token sales tbh. Shadowlands was the last time i crafted anything but potions. Now I don’t even do that. Professions are too annoying now. I don’t see the point of making it unwelcoming. Oh well. Delves saved it for me and now they are ruining them with some over power delves that will make folks toxic in them.

Rank 3 mats don’t get you max rank crafts. You need the skill, talents, and probably concentration.

It’s just layer upon layer upon layer designed to hold you back and timegate you

your opinion i respect it

Max ranks don’t guarantee max rank crafts, but any rank of craft for a useful epic gear piece, much less a 668 piece, is well above the max level of any non-legendary crafted piece from SL or before.

Just briefly trekking through Dragon Isles and my bags are filled with so many damn components to enhance/strengthen Profession making, but gotta combine this n that and need my concentration and skill tree for the Profession…

Absolutely overload. I would much rather Professions be kept more simple, maybe add a interactive mode to each Profession to be more involved…I dont need handfuls of menus/tabs and gadgets & gizmos to toss into it…

It’s nostalgic, because while that was great, when it came to gear, it was a one and done thing, and replaced next patch.

I love the upgrade system, I started with a 619, updated to 675, and is about to be 681. I don’t have to farm a weapon every patch? I’ll take it!

You should get back into it, it’s not as difficult as folks say. When you want to make X, just put your KP in that direction. And put points in the tree that make you better. To get points there’s a weekly and patron orders. And you really only do that once a week.

If you’re as broke as myself, there will be farming involved.

Old crafting was pretty much only questing gear, guarantee you can get max rank of that gear with r3 mats

I dont miss it.

I dont miss having to set up timers, so I log in 48hrs apart to run to a moonwell to make cloth. Doing this over and over for a month to make enough mooncloth to make a chest piece, then doing it again for a hat, then resarting and doing the same 48hr log jn sequence to make shadow gear.

I dont miss haveing to drop and relearn proffesions back up if something fun came out. Oh, youre a tailor? Great, but now the emgineering fun thing is restrictrd from you. Oh, drop tailoring for engineering you say? Good bye armour, cant wear them anymore.

I like work orders enabling you to get some pieces and fun things from other professions without having to spend tonnes of gold relearning them. I like being able to make gear easier without the massive grinds.

New system is better

the problem is if you didn’t start early on you’re way behind the curve, unless they added catch ups?

I think it’s unnecessary and I’m not a fan of it. I would have preferred more dungeons and raids, but I guess there are probably some players that care for stuff like this so why not. They could always take a poll and find out how many crafters enjoy the old simple mode or the current more involved mode, if they want to know how successful it is.

I believe there are, but the best I’ve seen is enchanting. You’ll get a point for nearly every piece you DE, until you catch up. Tailoring is a good match IF it’s your main, gotta loot to get cloth. Unless you’re loaded and can buy it.
