I miss being the champion of the universe

in Legion dalaran NPCs would walk around you because of your importance and that mechanic hasn’t been seen since. I feel we’re a bit overdue for us being thrust into a new cosmic champion position.

I really hope 11.0 gets us back into the swing of things like being a general of a massive Inter-cosmicological Warhammer 40k-esque military and in the conflicts with planet shattering forces of Chaos. Void lords and Light lords and reforged Sargeras.

It was pretty neat in Legion because we were leading our class halls, etc.

I know GW2 would do that big time with your player being the canonical Commander and doing all the story happenings in the Actual Lore, and I kind of wished that it wouldn’t sometimes.

Funny.

At those times, the popular refrain was “I miss being a nobody killing boars.”

i was not one of those hobos i love being an important champion

I always thought it never made sense to be a “murder hobo.”

How can you be a nobody after you killed an old god, a dragon aspect and WoW’s version of Satan (for example)?

It’s not possible.

We’re dimension-hopping murderous mercs. I wish NPCs properly addressed us.

To be fair we were still nobodies. They all called us champion and not a one of them knew our actual names.

Maybe they were just puzzled as to the pronunciation in your case.

You may be right.

This :point_up_2:.

I’m sure there are many others that remember the posters that hated the idea of being a renowned hero.

If there is one thing the forums can always be counted on for, it’s personal opinion being presented as irrefutable fact.

No…

What people miss is being a character in a world much larger then them who can choose their own path based on the decisions they make rather than having a pubescent comic book narrative forced on them.

No. And I give you a simple reason why:

Because you elevate the whole situation out of proportions. If we go into the cosmic dangers again, then we lose being just adventurers. People were SO sick of being the savior of everything, the hero who can do it all, like a Mary Sue.

What the game needs is balance. We shouldn’t be the answer for everything. It worked in Legion because it was grounded through the Class Halls. Everyone came together and all the NPCs had a part to play. But we don’t have them anymore, because this feature has been ABANDONED ON PURPOSE (capslock to make you realize that they threw this away).

If you want to be a champion, then rally for the Class Halls. Be their hero again, go on missions, be an important pillar for the world - but not the answer.

Then you weren’t reading these forums. Period.

Go play a single player game

I’d prefer if no one even knew my name and I was a mercenary or expedition member.

I guess you don’t read quest text cause we’ve still sort of been the chosen one in DF

So did you…like 23-25 times.

JK JK… Just bustin your onions a little.

Uhhh, no ty. If anything we’re still to much of the main character.

Being the main character is great for a single player game, not so much an MMO.

Now look at us, cleaning dragon turds and kicking elementals like we’re on Community Service! What did I do wrong, BLIZZARD!?

It wouldn’t be a WoW expansion if you weren’t fondling turds at some point.
