I May Be Old, But

Yeah, I agree, get these over-used phrases outta here.

Many of those words he referenced were def not in rap. If anything I heard them Start mostly from white girls.

What’s considered old? And how is it less ā€œcringeā€ than some 20 something living at their parents house playing WoW all day?

I’m in my 30s, so I wouldn’t consider myself old, I have worked enough to have enough money to really spend my time however I want and getting on WoW is a way to have some fun.

Considering your comment, your probably under 30, maybe early 20s. We both grew up in a gaming generation, I grew up with Mario, you probably grew up with PS3, if games are a waste of time at my age, it isn’t any different at your age, probably more so a waste of time at your age.

All of them annoy me, I’m not gonna lie. What happened to using actual English? lol

Only one I don’t like is ā€œcringeā€. Makes me think people who use it are not smart since when I see it being used I think of the actual dictionary term for it so it always seems like it’s out of context.

I’ve been playing video games since the Atari 2600 and am going to continue playing video games for as long as I can. So I guess this means when you cringe from this you’ll reach critical cringe mass and poof out of existence.

Define old.

Also why is it cringy?

Because getting rolfstomped by some random 60 year old bruises his fragile ego.

Idk how I missed your comment earlier when I was reading over the thread. haha Apologies, b/c I would have said something - so here goes it…

I hate the word. My son uses it all the time when he’s on xbox playing Siege and I want to smack him in the back of the head. (even though I do believe what I said earlier about as long as words aren’t use derogatory or in a hurtful manner etc. they’re fine)
BUT…then I remember when I was a teenager and I used to always say ā€œwhateverā€ to everything, especially to my mom, and I could see that same ā€œI wanna smack youā€ look on her face, although sometimes in the car I’d get pretty mouthy and a pop to the thigh I’d get until she did it one day and we both laughed at the whole thing and she was like - I guess this really isn’t that effective, is it? - lol

But still, out of all the words used now, I can say that is my all time least favorite one and will be glad and probably celebrate if it ever is eradicated from any form of vocabulary. UNTIL then, I shall grit my teeth. lol

I don’t mind ā€œcringeā€. But when they say ā€œcringe-worthyā€ - ugh - stop.

Every generation leaves its stamp on the vernacular. Quite frankly, if the younger generation’s lingo doesn’t piss off its elders then they are not a real generation. Be cool daddy-o, we can’t all be hep cats.

ā€˜Feels bad’ makes me think of a four year old crying to mama with a tummy ache.

Do you remember the words we came up with when we were kids? Our parents were not really pleased with them, yet some hip older people joined in for the fun.

It happens with every generation. Roll with it or become a grumpy old person. I don’t want to do the latter. I refuse to grow up.
