I’m thinking of buying a new gaming mouse for classic

With a budget of around 200$? (Ideally less), and I was hoping someone here might have a suggestion or two about what they might recommend. Because I’m venturing into very new territory here, (fo r me at least.) l

My friend bought one of these when he made his new PC “pcpartpicker com/product/kJM323/logitech-mouse-910004615” Probably not ment for MMOs where one would keybind like 50 different hotkeys to their mouse. But I trust my friend in high quality tech stuff as he is a computer nerd.

i used the legendary mouse the last 15 years until a few months ago when logitech released the exact same mouse again a little bit upgraded. i loved tge original mouse so for me its a nobrainer to use the new version of it now. the old one ill keep for backup. but if you want lots of keys its the wrong for you. i dont even use the 2 sidekeys so its fine in my case

edit: mx518 legendary

I’m still using a razor naga. At 2yrs it broke and they honored the warranty with a replacement.
The second mouse is starting to have the same issue after 7 months, but it’s been a good mouse. I’ll miss it.

In my opinion stay away from Razer. The products are nice but they don’t last for shxt.

Razer does get a lot flack for having issues. I personally use a razer epic naga chroma. Has 12 buttons on the side as well as 2 on the top and the scroll wheel can be clicked different directions. Have had for about 3 years and no issue. It’s hard to get used to at first but if you begin using it while leveling you will get used to it.

I use 1-4 on the keyboard . The 12 keys on the side , 2 up top and the click wheel as a button. If I wanted I could use the shift button and program another 12 keys basically. Highly recommend it. If you do not want to go the razer route and want the similar buttons you can go with the Logitech g600 or the Corsair Scimitar PRO RGB

I don’t think there is much sense in paying a lot for a mouse for Classic.

I have an oldish razer diamondback I remember buying for about 50 euros and even it has 4 sidebuttons (two on each side) and I doubt I am going to use more than one or two of them.

Just picked up a logi G-502 Hero myself

After years of using a G-500 that eventually gave out on me…

The good is that it has a ton of extra buttons… 3 accessible to your thumb, 2 buttons on your left click, mousewheel can be depressed, mousewheel can be shifted both left and right, and the G-502 now has a new button over the old G-500 a bit lower than the mouse wheel that’s basically where your middle finger attaches to your palm… So basically it’s a bunch of buttons, without going MMO-Mouse nuts (I always felt MMO mice had way too many buttons for accurate key pressing)

The bad part for the 502 vs my old 500 is the button placement… The old 500 had the 3rd thumb button under and between the other forward thumb button and rear thumb button, which was a nice location (albeit also gave the 500 poor durability in that spot)… The 502 moves that thumb button far forward, and imo makes kind of an awkward spot to hit without repositioning your hand a bit on the mouse itself unless you have exceptionally sized hands.

Hand size for the mouse is a concern too, because I feel like the 502 was actually made for smaller hands than the old 500 was, despite them hiding that lower thumb button way out in cambodia, and it’s taking some serious adjustment to get used to it all, as the distance between the lower thumb button and the upper rear thumb button now is sizable while the mouse itself feels a bit small if that makes sense.

The final complaint is the new bonus button sits behind the mouse wheel… and behind the mouse wheel unlock button (which has no keybind function, just changes the scroll wheel from ticks to smooth)… It’s really far back and right next to a functionless button so I likely won’t be using it for anything in combat, but could potentially take over as an Eat+Drink/ Cannabalize/ Bandage button (all of which are abilities that my character would be ideally stopping for multiple seconds of time to use)

Those things aside (and I’ve had the mouse itself for less than 3 days after something like 5-8 years of using the older g500 so much of my issues are entirely muscle memory related) , the mouse itself performs very well… It’s got a cord so no worrying about wifi input latency or batteries dying. Beyond that it’s got the newest sensor for their mice, and double the “button press” life of the previous models, and customizable profiles, macro-bindings, RGB controls, and on the fly sensitivity adjustments to take advantage of. It also only costs ~$50 off Amazon ($200 for a mouse is obscene)

for $200 the mouse better have the keyboard and speakers coming out of it too.

for $200 it should be heated and massage your hand after a long day of gaming

I have a CMStorm Recon. Technically, it has eleven buttons, but I only use four of them. It’s also got the most infuriating mechanical failure in the left click gubbins that either makes me double click or unable to hold left click and drag. It just chooses which way to screw me at random. To be fair, though, it probably has somewhere in the ballpark of 1000000000 clicks of wear.

I’m using that exact mouse (in black) right now…

Just stay away from Razor mice. I’ve had nothing but issues out of those things.

I ended up just settling on a 6 button Logitech I bought for like $60 and haven’t a single issue since. If you want more buttons, go for a higher end model. Logitech makes some damn quality stuff.

Then again my hands are more meat paws than gamer friendly. When you wear a size 17 ring… size matters.

I use the Corsair Scimitar. It’s a MMO gaming mouse. Google it for pics and such.

I’ve been using this mouse for about 4 years now. I got a new one after 2 years because the old one started having left click issues where it some times doesn’t register a click or I’ll be doing something with left click and hold and it let’s go of the left click randomly. Now it’s a backup and I have a new one.

I am 6 foot and I have large hands. This mouse is perfect for me as a palm type mouse user.

The tracking is excellent. I use this to play wow, BF5, counter strike source and go and basically any video game. It uses a very reliable and top quality sensor.

The side buttons are perfect for me and the whole button grid can be moved forwards and backwards for a little customizability.

Hands down a great mouse.

I have Logitech G502 on both my systems and that is all I will ever buy. The mouse feels great, software is good and every Logitech mouse I’ve owned over 20 years of pc gaming has been good.

I’ve exclusively been using razer keyboards and mice since 2009. Never once had an issue with any mouse. Couple issues with a keyboard once but that’s it.
Razer deathadder til the day i die.

If your not using a Logitech G600 you are doing it wrong. Buy 2 of them and you will be set for years. You don’t need some insane mouse for mmo’s… those expensive mouses are for shooter games.

Once that one finally gives out, I’ve had better luck with the logitech g600, same mouse in virtually all functionality, but mine has lasted me four years or so. One person’s anecdotal experience and all that, ymmv yadda yadda.

@OP, there’s a lot you can do for 200 dollars, I can only speak of my own experience with naga/g600 but I enjoy that kind of mouse a lot. Couldn’t see myself playing an MMO without one anymore, honestly.

Honestly don’t get fooled by super expensive hardware. Budget companies such as corsair have excellent products (I own a corsair mouse and keyboard, along with a razer mouse/keyboard)… you could save money and get a nice 50-120 dollar mouse that is super super good and will last you years.
