I Love the new professions!

As the title says, ive never had so much fun playing wow then i have doing professions.

Its my first time playing the new system, i didnt really get into it in dragonflight. Its amazing. There is so much depth and content to play just within the professions.

As a skinner and leatherworker, a few of my thoughts:
General compexity. I like how the whole thing is set up, alot to take in, but once you understand, its a ton of fun making choices and farming mats. I think the complexity is also a barrier to entry for many players, indirectly rewarding those who take the effort to learn professions. This divide i think is very good and rewards tons of gold for profession masters.

Balancing material quality, profession level and using concentration to supplement crafts is a perfect mix.

Compared to historical professions, the new system is very much less quantity, more quality. Making the whole profession process feel more rewarding. Instead of farming 200 of the same item to level up, you only need to make 1 or 2 before moving on.

Finding treasures, farming acuity, the whole orders system, all fun and great ways to expand the overall experience.

Tons of extras within skinning. I like the lure mechanic, finding rares.

My only take back is the UI when selecting knowledge points. I wish it would show abilities and functions more clearly in the knowledge trees before comitting points.

Happy farming!

I used to love it too but then I changed my opinion about halfway through.

I want to like it, I really do, it’s a nice system in concept but Blizzard doesn’t know how to handle distribution of materials, drops, artisan’s acuity and knowledge points. So it makes the system feel utterly terrible.

I hate this new profession system. It was like that in Dragonflight and now I won’t even have the patience to level up in TWW.

How is it possible to put so much time gate on even one of the things that was once super difficult to do?

What exactly is wrong with the distribution? Takes too long to farm?

Lets go from DF cause that is the one I fully topped atm. IE: Writhbark, the most rare herb of DF. You could spec into gathering it. Even maxed, and I mean maxed, a lush writhbark( thats suppose to have high yield) will get you 2-4 herbs. On the other hand a lush hochenbloom un specialized? 12 fricking herbs! I went for the hochenbloom specialization at the very end of the herbalist grind because of this, soooo much of it!

I am comparing common herbs with uncommon here I know but you catch my drift. And then you see that convoy arrive and gather that node you just found and move on to the next…

So I resorted to letting the market be flooded by those bots, when the undercutting morons have done there part and the mats is low enough to my liking, I would buy and make phials and what not.

So at the moment it seems the wheels are nice but they are not all working as advertised.

Don’t get me wrong, I loved that revamp but it does have frustrating parts.

Yeah, I did skinning and leatherworking in DF; for a gathering profession, leveling skinning is so easy! In TWW, herbalism is also, easy - so much on the isle of dorn! BUT . .

Mining sucks! How does it make sense that I can be at max 100 points, have current mining gear (544 ilvl) in all 3 slots and from a Rich Ironclaw deposit, only get 1 ore, lowest quality???

I preferred it when a Rich deposit would guarantee you 4-6 pieces of ore.

I like certain elements of the new profession system. The concept is great. Implementation is kind of meh.

While it is actually almost identical to regearing every expansion, the in your face reality of having to re-earn 85 Knowledge Points that you used to make max rank wrists last expansion just makes my head look for new options.

I think there should be some evergreen portions of this new system that don’t take that long for actual new players and some returning players depending on when they bowed out.

Then on top of the evergreen there should be expansion specific recipes, bonuses, skills, options, and so forth.

I don’t expect it because Blizzard seems to be on a roll with a hard reset every expansion, but I can dream!
