I love survival hunter but there is an issue

I want to preface this by saying I really enjoy survival, and I think it has a unique game play style to it. It does feel like the theme that it’s trying to convey. However,

In my opinion there are a few too many things going on with it. One there is a lot of buttons you are pressing, but that isn’t even the main issue, the main issue is they are almost all coming off cd at the same time.

I suspect like so many other specs in the game with haste as the expansion goes on it will feel better, but I feel like i’m playing wack a mole, and it doesn’t really feel tight if you understand where I’m coming from. Too many abilities coming off cd at the same time, and there is a lot of them.

I’m curious to hear from other survival hunter players out there, how would you feel with getting rid of kill shot as survival? Or maybe increasing the cd length of some of the other abilities, but making them hit harder to compensate?

I kind of feel like with bombs and butchery, we really don’t need explosive shot as well as survival to press. I know some of these are a hot take, I’m just throwing ideas out there. Hopefully a dev sees this and agrees at least in part.

It’s kind of odd to have a hunter spec being so crazy with buttons, I have to believe this is a work in progress, but what do you all believe?

I think there SHOULD be specs with higher quantities of buttons and specs with low quantity of buttons so everyone can find a home. they’re currently aiming to lower the cognitive load of SV by taking flanking strike and moving to a choice node with butchery which will help.

explosive shot is pretty iconic with how the spec plays right now with the resets and a nice moment you get when it resets. kill shot is pretty satisfying to press too especially with sic’em and the new talents in the next patch.

realistically there’s not that buttons you’re pressing regularly as SV epsecially in single target. mostly kill command and raptor strike until WFB comes off cd

Its a priority system.
Enhance shaman is the same way. A lot of abilities up all at once, but which one do you press and why.

Once you get used to this its not so bad

yup, zero issue with SV’s priority rotation

This is kinda hilarious cause before people were complaining that serpent got moved from an active ability to a passive and were complaining about not enough buttons for survival. But now theres too much going on.

Nah it was the loss of a dot that we could throw at range in pvp or fast ranged tags. Now we are limited to kill command and bombs pretty much and you dont want to always just pop them off to just keep someone from stealthing or at a group of enemies. Was fun being able to apply large amounts of serpent sting to groups via mouseover macros :frowning:

I’m glad Serpent Sting is gone as an active ability and applied passively by RS/MB. It encourages you to get in melee range more and makes Survival’s main melee skill feel more worth pressing while cutting down on button bloat. Also, not really a fan of the mini crossbow so less of that is better.

Why does every spec have to be braindead.

The priority rotation of survival at the moment feels GREAT. Every button press feels impactful, and weaving in tip of the spear is the cherry on top. People are going to whine and whine until every spec plays like ret. And ret is fun in its simplicity, but not every class needs to be that way.

Making you choose between Flanking Strike and Butchery is punishing people who enjoy the spec and appreciate the rotation and playstyle. If you think there are too many buttons, simply dont talent them.

I really like the AoE rotation of survival. It’s a lot of fun. Not the biggest fan of the single target rotation. But I honestly haven’t played it that much and don’t really care for the game play of pack leader. It’s being reworked anyways. The someone frenetic pace of the spec is fun. As an old ranged survival player seeing explosive shot take a high place in the rotation makes me heart happy.

I like the rotation and am going to be sad when FS and Butchery become choice nodes.

I JUST now heard about this change and I agree.

personally I don’t really see an argument for keeping both
especially with the way flanking strike is designed now you just have a tip stack ready every 30 seconds to slam it and thats all. not exactly super high cognitive load or rotation impacting
