Just stopped by to say this isn’t my first Priest and I absolutely love the mechanics of Shadow.
Even the void form, it’s fun.
Thank you for your attention.

416 ilvl, no raiding, no m+. Play the class for another couple of months, and do some content. Then see how it feels.
I like it quite a bit. I’ll admit it is flawed in its design, but the rotation and feel of the spec while raiding is great. I really enjoy having no burst windows or major CDs. I like the steady consistent damage
I generally like it in m+ as well, but anything below a +10 feels like I should just afk since my dps is useless
Its a bit misleading to jump up and down in joy about how good it feels etc in Raiding and high M+ keys because that’s the only 2 areas where it isn’t absolute trash.
Leveling is a pain, PvP is a pain, old content is a pain, low M+ or normal 5 mans is a pain.
Anything where the fight lasts less then 20 sec is as Voidcaller mentioned, your just useless because everyone else can kill w/e it is your spending so much time on trying to set/ramp up that its just pointless to try.
I am curious, to the ones that “enjoy” it. What is your reference point? Meaning do you only know how Shadow Priest plays since the Void Form / Insanity mechanic revamp? Or do you have prior experience before the revamp?
I would heavily argue that without the experience to compare and contrast pre & post Void Form revamp then you are not seeing the entire picture and thus dilute the issues those of us are bringing up which in turn makes it difficult to have a balanced discussion.
Go to your room Goshie, you’re grounded.
It’s upsetting how I like certain mechanics despite the community’s opinion and the last are flagging me.
No, it’s not trolling. I actually like void form and I don’t want it to go, but it can be improved, of course. I have no doubt I’ll say the same thing after a month/two of playing this char.
That seems like a bigotry right here, people. Also, I don’t need to provide reasonable explanation to like something, I simply enjoy it.
#removevoidform
Lol it’s not bigotry. You come and say you like void form (which is fine btw, you’re allowed to like stuff you like), but then you say yourself that you don’t need to provide a justification of why.
In a forum where one of the main topics of discussion for FOUR years has been how awful void form is, and countless ideas how to fix/improve it.
So to review: you post in public forum for discussion that you like something that is widely disliked, and you will not provide any feedback on why you like this widely disliked thing. That is almost de facto trolling buddy, especially the part where you claim victim lol.
You’re free to try again, but maybe be more mindful next time.
Wait a minute there, sorry but I strongly disagree on this one. No reason is needed to say you like something, even if it’s an unpopular opinion, sometimes you just do (as long as you have actually tested it for long enough which seems to be the case).
He’s only posting his opinion, he’s not saying the spec is in a good place in X or Y content, he’s just stating that he has enjoyed playing it, that’s it, that’s totally valid
I do think there’s a good chance that if he starts engaging into more end-game content he starts finding more things he dislikes. His feedback is still valid just needs to be taken within context that it comes based on what he has done so far in-game and it’s one opinion only (i.e. does not invalidate any of the other ones that dislike the spec).
As a matter of fact I also kind of like how it flows. I can see the multitude of problems voidform presents and I do recall it feeling pretty terrible before all the borrowed power so I would absolutely not choose it as my main because of that, but taking the objective analysis out of it when I sit and play it for a while I do find it enjoyable that’s it. I’m still on the boat that wants changes because when I objectively look at what the spec offers I see lots of issues and voidform seems to be a big factor for that.
Yea i’m sorry but with him taking a stance like he did by writing “#keepvoidform” and NOT expecting some stern push back in the form of discussion/dialog in order to better understand WHY he “Absolutely love the mechanics of Shadow” and instead just going into defensive mode and acting like a victim is a BIG RED TROLLISH FLAG.
Its fine and all to say you like something but when you are trying to PUSH that via this “#keepvoidform” then you BETTER expect a discussion / dialog as to WHY you hold such a stance.
I mean there’s always a chance the person is trolling but I rather take them as honest and just providing their opinion until there’s clear evidence. As I see it he is someone who enjoys how the spec works and doesn’t want it changed.
Does his opinion carry as much weight as someone’s who has dedicated himself to the spec and has a wider understanding of it, probably not, he’s still allowed to enjoy it and comment on it.
There are probably others out there that feel like the OP does too but are scared to speak out because of the consensus that voidform is bad. I disagree with them as I think from an objective point of view it is causing a lot of problems to the spec, but that doesn’t mean we need to silence those who think otherwise. (Well I guess “Silence” is an iconic Shadow Priest spell though
)
I agree that perhaps he can try to provide more in-depth feedback about what is it that he likes, but that’s often pretty difficult to identify. I just leveled a Fury Warrior and I like it, I have no idea how well suited their kit is at a higher level or if there are frustrating things about it that I don’t know about.
Honestly I can identify quite a bit. In early BFA it felt quite bad, but nowadays playing Shadow casually is kind of fun. You can immediately tell it has a ramp-up time and it’s pretty slow at doing open world stuff but it does feel engaging to play.
It’s until you have more experience that you start noticing things like how there’s almost no flexibility and if you want to optimize you have to follow a very rigid rotation, you also start to realize how any downtime severely “breaks” the pace you have been building up for a few minutes, how there’s little priority target damage, among other things.
So in the end you realize how you rely purely on sustained damage that slowly builds up trough the encounter, you have very limited ability to deal with priority targets, or to “push” a specific phase, and your damage gets severely hindered if something disrupts your pace. But in the end even if you are able to pull it off by a combination of skill and luck, well guess what, your damage is still average.
(Oh and a lot of what made it feel fun and somewhat smooth comes from borrowed power that will be going away)
There was an attempt to flag me because of my opinion, and that’s what I called bigotry, not people who tried to disagree or even demanded an explanation
Fair enough, not the safest way of me to start a discussion
Through the hashtag I wanted to gain more attention, but so far no one explained to me properly why instead of removing it, Void Form cannot be reworked.
I used to main shaman and dk for a long time and seeing spriests in m+ always made me smile.
I think they deserve more love, but Void Form is the unique system no other class possesses, and we need to find ways to make it work instead of wiping entirely.
Thank you
There are hundreds posts on that, in dozens of threads, and probably half of the top 10 threads are exactly that. That you didn’t read any of them before posting is your fault, and why you got less than polite responses.
Actually no, it’s not.
Creating a post is the easiest way to find answers for a particular question.
That’s the whole point of posts regardless how many was made prior mine.
On the other hand, THE WAY I began this discussion can be the reason, but still flagging someone is too much of an action
Alright to simply answer your question. Its impossible to balance. its either not good or way too overpowered as it was in EP. Only within the raid circumstances however. Outside of Raid its either too difficult of scenarios to make it play ok like mass pulling everything in sight in open world content or in M+ where it takes the tank to likely change his entire pull timings to keep the Spriest happy.
All of this listed is just the macro of it. At the micro level its heavily propped up by implemented systems that are specific to BFA alone and are not being ported to Shadowlands or whats being called Borrowed Power. Stuff like Chorus of Insanity makes it usuable to a semi functional level while introducing this constant ramp up that makes it more and more difficult to reach your peak power level as you gear up. No other spec in the game has that. Each specs peak rises as they gear but the ease to reach the peak is the same through out or gets easier. Spriests gets more difficult as your first VF lasts longer and Longer causing the true peak within the second VF to get further and further away from the start. So any pause or break causes shadow to never reach that peak. Its an incredibility annoying part of the base line of the spec.
VF is impossible to fix with out fundamentally altering the . With out the Borrowed Power of BFA systems VF feels unrewarding. Adding in the Borrowed power into SLabs fixes one problem but brings back the other issues with Ramp. This also doesnt bring into the other plethora of issues Shadow as a Spec has like lack of movement, CDs, kiting ability, Defensives, off healing, or other general utility.
Shadow as a whole is an utterly broken spec and VF stands for the entire spec and its need to be brought back down to foundation and rebuilt from the ground up. Spells, talents, abilities, passives, CDs, movement, and utility. Really every single aspect is broken.
For you. You expect someone to type out, again, what you could easily find with 3 minutes of reading. It’s rude, and inconsiderate. That someone did it for you is a kindness you don’t deserve. It probably took him longer to type it than for you to read a couple posts.
Creating a post and let people express their opinion without any force and only if they personally want to is impolite?
KINDNESS I don’t deserve?
I’m not here for this kind of talk, enjoy yourself.
I read that in the Didacts voice from Halo.
Love his speeches lol.
