I love playing enh but also want to play ele

What would be the best Covent for both specs?

If you aren’t pushing cutting edge content then any though necrolord is worst for enhance

The short answer is: there is no best covenant for both enh and ele.

Venthyr is meta for enh, and okay for ele. Night Fae is better single target for enh than Venthyr (but Fae Transfusion is super awkward to use as enh), and Night Fae is comparable to Venthyr for ele. Necro is meta for ele and worst for enh. Kyrian is probably the worst choice for ele and the second worst for enh (I’ve never heard an opinion from a Kyrian shaman tho… they might not exist).

If you take PvP seriously, Venthyr is really your only option for enh, and Necro your only option for ele.

Kyrian for the flexibility. Night fae would be the best single target for both but is clunky and falls off on aoe.

Its deffinently a cake and eating it too phrase here…sadly

Night Fae is actually really useful in PvP. Some of the soulbind work really well (esp if you have a lot of CC in your arena team, you can potentially die and come back to life), and soulshape let’s you move while rooted which is pretty good.

Fae Transfusion hits like a truck compared to Chain Harvest (single target), so as long as you get off an earthbind/cap and drop it on your target, they’re usually dead before the channel ends unless they got incoming spam heals. It’ll do 25k+ in less than 3 seconds easily.

Kyrian is actually all around good for all specs. It’s not the best, but the totem is the easiest to use for all specs, because it can be placed and moved and will repeat healing or damage that you cast, without having a damage component first with heal second, or only have a heal, or damage etc… It fits shaman really well, and their soulbinds are good, it just doesn’t have as much oomf as Chain Harvest or Fae Transfusion for Enhancement or Ele.

Necrolord is just a no if you are going Enhancement, but this may very well change with the buffs in 9.0.5, and Night Fae and Kyrian are also getting some significant buffs, essentially taking the meta away from us. In 9.0.5 they’re all pretty much just as viable as eachother (for different reasons).

I had totally forgetten about how frustrating Dreamweaver’s cheat death is in PvP! And you’re totally right, the mobility from Soulshape is amazing for PvP as well.

I agree that Kyrian isn’t necessarily bad, but I found the totem to be pretty fiddly to get good use out of (while I was leveling, never played them at max level).

I’m pretty optimistic that with 9.0.5 the covenants will be more-or-less equal.

Sadly the best part of Kyrian for me is the Steward. The phials are nice, I can annoy people with 4 minutes of song every 5 minutes, I can vendor and reset talents with it (on longer timers), I can use it to port around Bastion. There is something called “Steward Mail Pouch” or similar from the Path of Ascension I have yet to get which I would imagine would let me get my mail from it, etc. Not to mention the Phials which are pretty great. (edit: I did mention the phials, but whatever. They are clutch.)

That +25% damage/healing buff to the totem in 9.0.5 sounds pretty appealing though.

A note from someone who was night fae enh for a while before swapping ele full time…

In arena, there is some tech play with putting earthbind on one side of the pillar and then fae transfusion on the other. You can wrap it behind the pillar from relative safety due to its targeting reticle to get some ticks off and scare players out the other side. The dmg it does over time isn’t negligible and if you are rocking Niya you just netted 17% extra stam and 500 mastery.
