I love how people mock World of Warcraft graphics (more on post)

And years of education and work experience.

It is, Quite Simply The Best In The Business! I am uninterested in Anime style graphic games like FFXIV, which could only dream of having such a dedicated and genius art team such as Blizzards team at The World Of Warcraft! :dizzy: :rabbit:

i dont think it looks that good at all tbh but i love how crisp/fluid it is.

while id like it to look better i have a feeling we’d lose some responsiveness/fluidity and im not willing to give any slack on that front.

I’ve always like WoW’s graphics. Simple yet still looks cool.
I do wish they’d implement more detail to models. Not the textures mind you but the gear frames. Like loose cuff pant legs type of stuff and weapon models that weren’t so crazy.

. . . now, I can’t speak for everyone, but for some, what I have seen at least, its that WoW’s art style is “to cartoony”. Some folk really want a more gritty realistic style not realizing that not everyone’s computers run that tripe . . .

That said I love WoW’s art style, and all its cartoony glory.

i prefer it, it’s what keeps me around. tried ff14 online and it just doesnt feel the same. pretty but not for me.

I’m not wanting to weigh in on the subject of this thread, but i wish people would stop perpetuating this kind of nonsense. WoW runs like crap when you turn the graphics up to ultra, with a modern engine it could look better and run better.

Just to be clear, I’m not saying it’s realistic for Blizzard to do it, rebuilding the entire game from the ground up using UE5 or some type of Blizzard equivalent would be insanely time consuming and expensive, you’d almost need an entire studio working parallel with Blizzard to get it done and start working on the next expansion while Blizzard still works on winding up the current expansion, it would be a nightmare, a very expensive nightmare lol

Having said all of that, in a world where Blizzard had the resources and willingness to do it, WoW could look infinitely better while also being able to actually run better on modern budget hardware.

most people who love the cartoony look are the ones who have been playing this game forever and i’d say most don’t want it changed. final fantasy is straight trash why you people keep bringing it up in the wowforums is beyond me. i can only laugh when i look at it compared to wow. the main thing that turned me off of ff is the look lol i’ll hate on it all i want this is the wowforums not ff dead forums always bringing that garbage up. half of ya basically want every dang game basically the same its good to have major differences and that includes looks.

I enjoy the fact that they’ve kept it semi relevant to the original style

Most were mocking vanilla graphics, modern wow is fine

… sir.

You’ve just linked a picture of a player using a tree costume.

It’s from the quest on Azuremyst where you need to eavesdrop on the meeting to find out who the traitor is at the Alliance camp (it’s the gnome),

I do agree that some old zones have hideous trees and such, but this particular example doesn’t work so well lol.

Nope, whether or not something is visually appealing to someone is opinion, education not work experience factor into that.

Playing a video game for the graphics is like watching adult entertainment for the plot.

It got burnt down.

Nice personal opinion, OP. My personal opinion is that Everquest 2 has far better graphics, but sadly that game is now terrible compared to what it used to be.

But hey, it’s nice to have differing opinions!

It’s a lot like certain games just have a style that’s THEIR OWN and easily recognizable whereas I can look at stuff from other games and I don’t know which one it came from quite honestly. So many MMORPGS look the same in a lot of ways, and then of course WoW probably has some of the best character race selection too.

But it still could be better in a lot of ways, like even OSRS has little addons for “HD” and other varying visual mods that are allowed. To me it’s pretty wild that certain models like Pandaren still haven’t been ‘updated’ and things like the stitching on their head still isn’t fixed but they look at them and go “They’re fine!” while making another human/elf variation.

WoW’s graphics are probably the least offensive of all the MMOs I’ve played.

It’s not overly flashy and there’s just enough glowy stuff that I don’t feel like turning off the game after a few minutes.

I’m okay with realism or cartoony. I can’t stand FFXIV’s weird hodge-podge anime-realism aesthetics and Guild Wars 2 has waaay too much glowy particle effects on gear. FFXIV’s particle effects in general are quite egregious too.

City of Heroes is okay, but you’re mostly at the mercy of other players around you as the entire character is customizable, including abilities.

I do not like how Bastion looks. Ashenvale and Teldrassil are not great to look at. Un’goro Crater and Sholazar Basin can be a little harsh on the eyes. The fel green of Legion is pretty bad after a while too.

I tend to pick transmogs that don’t have extremely vibrant colors and generally avoid moving parts - WoD Paladin sets, in particular, come to mind.
