I love how every single villain in WoW

… can stunlock the player anytime it would be too inconvenient if the player were to just simply kill them.

This is why I hate WoW storytelling.

I could maybe, maybe understand a major lore character doing it, because they have that kind of power. But when some character I never heard of before suddenly appears out of nowhere and then goes “HAHAHA I WIN SUCKERS!” and stunlocks the player for 10, 15, 20 seconds while they give some diatribe about how they’re awesome and how you’re nothing, it just feels so lame.

It wouldn’t be so bad if it didn’t happen so freaking often in WoW Quests, and you know what? Maybe I would like to actually WIN a battle sometime. Maybe I would like to, just once, kill the stupid thing where it stands. But nope, stunlock.

And you know what? I’m a Paladin. I have this little thing called Divine Shield that is supposed to remove stuff like that. Oh, but no, not THIS time. Because … plot reasons.

It feels so stupid and lame. Can you guys at Blizzard seriously not think of any other way to actually make story bits happen without stunlocking the player to prevent the player from preventing whatever it is the villain wants to do?

I know why they do it, they know the player could easily mop the floor with some random joker that shows up to do crap, and so they stunlock the player to stop it. But that just stinks of a poorly written story to be honest when they have to keep doing this kind of junk.

Not to mention that they completely lose this magic ability once they get promoted to loot pinata.

Oh yes, that too.

They can stunlock me anytime they feel like it, until I get the quest to go kill them, and then they suddenly forgot that they can stunlock me for 20 seconds.

And they’re always like “I’m soooo good, I’m gonna send my MINIONS after you!” and walk away… you kill the minions and God-knows-how long later you meet up with them and they can’t stunlock you all the sudden and they just roll over and cry about it when you splatter their innards all over the nearest wall.

We win all the time. We need to lose more.

What are you talking about

Undead - Immune to Sleep
But gets Sleeped in the new Korthia quest Chain.

DK - Can Lichborne to be Immune to Sleep. Has Immunity to Stun with IBF.
Yet there’s so many stuns in game that when I go to IBF I get “Can’t do that while stunned.”

Seriously be consistent Blizz…

As someone who has to withstand facing bosses (a tank), I can assure you it is a mercy.

Can still cast sleep on Undead units in Warcraft 3 IIRC.

Uh, no?

The whole expansion is filled with losing battles until the end of a raid, then you finally can win, once. After losing left and right the whole patch.

And even then it’ll probably be a lore character that finishes it off for you.

Bro, our characters have killed literal GODS. Blizz seriously thinks at this point my champion couldn’t slap Sylvanas around a little bit?

I’m not even talking about Sylvanas.

I explicitly said in my OP “I can understand major lore characters doing it.”

No, I’m talking about that quest in Korthia where some nobody demon can do it. Nevermind I’m a Paladin with Divine Shield.

What hve lost since coming to SL? Forsworn? Wrecked? Rebel maldraxxus houses? Wrecked? Drust? Wrecked? Sire? Stuffed in a locker.

Every xpac starts off with trouble that we just fix.

Last big loss with player involvement was what? Wrathgate?

so…lighthope chappel battle?

I want to loot this Plot Armor and use it myself.

Honestly, they have done and can do that. I mean, they can have the villain perched on top of a place where player can’t reach. It still sucks and about as lame, but at least there’s a logical reason behind it and you won’t get stunlocked.

Blizzard: "M’Kay, but it’ll cost ya a raid tier. :upside_down_face: " /j

combat spells by players does not equal to npc spells

WoW is a MMORPG, you know where by lore standards RP events happen?

Would you like to explain to me the reasons we have Roleplaying Servers in your terms then?

You’re seriously going to defend story/gameplay mechanic inconsistencies? :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

ENOUGH! -stun locks thread-

dude when you do those quests you’re suppose to see whos the big bad and you’re not suppose to just 1 shot them on spot

thats like seeing the Lich King for the first time while questing in Northrend and you just kill him like that… welp the expansion is over and you barely did anything

its literally just lore reasons

OBVIOUSLY you’re not going to kill the Lich King.

I’m talking about some rando demon who shows up that you’ve never even heard of before, and is obviously not a major lore character can just snap its fingers and you’re there stunned and unable to do anything whatsoever.
