I Love Crafting but I'm the Only One

I do too. I absolutely love it for the same reason. I log in excitedly to check my orders. (But I’m starting to think you get more orders if you don’t check them until later.)

It’s a pity more people don’t want to engage with it; I think they’d like it if they tried it too.

But they don’t wanna and that means the effort spent developing the content is being misused and them’s the breaks.

It forces you into one of two camps; you can be in the camp of the specialist (where you can craft epic quality gear and use Embellishments) or you can be in the camp of the supplier (crafting high quality profession mats for the specialists).

It’s a really good system that’s kind of marred by its lack of skill-point generation.

Indeed. I guess it really just gives me something to do when I log in, and thats all i really want in the game, is a reason to play

Where did you get that information?

Not at all. I’m simply answering your stated argument that crafting is the same ‘aspect-wise’ as combat. I’ve demonstrated that it is not.

The reception of all the threads that say put it back and it’s overly complicated. And there are a lot more people without professions these days, though that could be because of Remix.

Interesting point. Bliz must have a way of quantifying how many users are active in the professions aspect of the game.

I’m not a fan of professions period. I’d much rather live in a world where gear is acquired by balanced and appropriate pillars offering EVERYONE a path to the highest item levels even if that means some routes/options will take longer than others and the entirety of player power is on gear and talents.

I don’t want to acquire a piece of gear and then have additional chores to make it equippable. I want to get the item and know is this an upgrade or not and equip it. I want to do the content for the fun and sake of doing the content. If I opt to do lesser content, I should get gear that is lower on the overall upgrade path AND less of the generic currency to upgrade it which incentivizes me to do harder stuff if I want to “grind” less.

If professions “have” to exist, I’d rather they just be the old style where I get generic mat X, Y, and Z with no care at all about rank or quality, take it do someone, and they push a button and out pops my craft with no stupid donkey reagents or risk to my overall item. I already know what I’m getting.

Do you think forum posts are some kind of benchmark of overall player sentiment?
Judging by green profession tool sales, I would say everyone is doing professions.

There is no way for the average forum goer to have a good indication of if people like the crafting system or not. I like the new system far more than the old one and would prefer they iterate out issues. Patron orders should be akin to the value of the old mission tables, but should be fairly difficult to do without concentration. They also put a bit too much value on delve items. Cloth only dropping for tailoring is also very very cringe.

Overall crafting has been nice though. I wish embelishments were more interesting. Its tragic how you might have to invest 30 or more points to make an embelishment that isn’t worth making, whats the point then?

Double gatherer.

Y’all can keep that mess.

I always loved crafting too, even if I’m not really making much gold at it at times.

The green ones, yes. I have noticed that as well. And merchanters have them in their sights so they must be profitable.

However, blue 300 acuity tools are ordered sometimes, but very rarely, suggesting that even though many people engage with professions, they may get frustrated and not stick it out.

As I said it’s a combination of factors that tips me off that players don’t like this, and the forum reactions are only one aspect.

I like the profession changes. They need to let us farm KP and have clear catch up mechanics.

My main issue with the profession system is work orders. I rather post stuff on the AH and then go play the game. I would have a vendor item that costs 5k gold that would an item to be place on the AH. That way the buyer can slot in their own crests and sparks. They will still have the option of doing work orders for a better deal because it wouldn’t need the vendor item.

<— that would be me. I used to LOVE grinding professions. Now I have NO REASON to keep leveling Engineering. Most of the crafts are pointless, there are no cool items like we had in Wrath and Cata, and the fact that I have to make everything in 5 different stages using 4 different types of materials is just exhausting. So yeah, none of my professions have been completed since Legion.

If 10 people are pooling their dough…. Maybe give everyone something to buy in to?

I mean , a shrewd business person can rip off everyone for their own gain - as evidenced by the Election.

Still, I think you pay for stuff you don’t want sometimes, because other people want it, and it’s the same table

There’s another option.

Make profs easier but don’t immediately toss out all the changes.
Some are really great. Just some though.

KP’s should be used for specialized things only. For those who like the convoluted, confusing way it is now, they can put in specialized items that are hard to craft but once you do, they have the potential to become really popular to use in m+ & raids, etc… but those things won’t appeal to all crafters so those who don’t care would feel free to ignore them and just craft away, trying to make some gold/gear/etc… and level up their profs.

Most don’t need KP’s as they are so that could probably go to the wayside for many except specialized items.

I think I’m repeating myself so I’ll stop now. Hope this was clearer than mud.

I kind of like Professions, I just think they need to be more intuitive. I was really lost with professions, until I saw a You Tube Video. Then I followed the steps and it was a boon.

But, something as basic as professions should be more intuitive.

Wow in General should be more intuitive - maybe they make money off partnerships, or something… by stranding their players in the wilderness, creating a pool of wandering folk searching for answers on the internet…

But, yeah. I enjoy professions, they should just be more intrinsic to the game if you decide to pursue them

Nope. If they wanted crafting worthless and unengaging, they can just make the vendor items and invest no points

If I click on you, will I see that you’ve not engaged with the system at all?

Y’all can double down bite off your tongues and call for a system you don’t like and don’t use to keep taking the game’s resources and your money if you want. I don’t care.

I’m genuinely trying to show you why that’s a bad idea and how even if it happens to help me, I’m going to call for it to be dismantled, because I want the game to be fun for everyone, not just me.
