As I said before, Elves got human-sized after Tolkien. Before that, they were tiny people that caused diseases by shooting people with arrows.
I’m not saying Tinkerbell was an Elf, I’m just using her for scale of the size I think appropriate.
If they were that small they would have a really hard time making all those toys for Santa never mind making enough cookies in the summer to last through the Christmas season.
