This is my first time leaving class feedback ever anywhere. I’m sure old heads will point out that this is a rollback to some previous version but I just want to say that I love the new Eclipse! It flows so much more gracefully to me! Thank you to whoever redesigned it.
I wish to protest yet again, that forcing Lunar Calling on Elune’s Chosen for Balance spec goes against the philosophy of increasing player agency over the rotation. It feels a lot more like the old Eclipse, moving as a pendulum determined by cooldowns…
Agreed eclipse is better but my question is why do we have incarn and eclipse. I would prefer if they just removed incarn and baked it into eclipse and made a fun spell baseline like convoke.
Also i dont understand why eclipse is still solar\lunar why not just make it both like every other damage window for every other class like colossus smash etc.
Hate the new eclipse. Didn’t think I would care that much. Awful change.
I’ve incidentally been a balance main for years but perhaps it’s time for others to don the mantle.
the eclipse system was unique among casters. And apparently something I enjoyed greatly. I wish they would have given us a choice mode talent to keep the old way.
I lament hearing that the new mechanic makes the spec lose a great player - and I’m sure you’re not alone in your frustration. I agree with your criticism wholeheartedly, too… An MMO should allow more build optionality, that includes mechanics. I’ve ironically advocated for choice though so I could get away from DF/TWW Eclipse.
It’s also a bit frustrating for us Boomkins having to re-learn the spec every xpak or two.
Which version did you enjoy the most?
My favourite was Empowerments, so I rather enjoy the new version. My only issue atm is being forced to use Lunar Calling as EC. I feel like that quite betrays the promise of increased agency for the Midnight Eclipse, actually being more rigid than TWW, cuz the cooldown stacks sort of force a pendulum (Eclipse for Lunar, Incarn for Solar/Lunar). With all that being said, I can see an argument for this build having become more interesting to weave through because it’s less monotonous.
I honestly only tried elunes chosen a couple times and had difficulty getting the rhythm down so I have exclusively been a keeper all of tww.
I especially appreciated the trees duality for helping me and my wife to progress t11 delves early in the season due to their tanky qualities
It’s interesting to hear your interpretation of eclipse with reference to EC. I’m not sure if I would enjoy that more or less lol.
shadowlands was probably my favorite but so long as convoke stays around I’ll prolly always appreciate boomkin.
But I’ve been tired of the mog situation for a long time as well. I’d love if we could get a simpler indication of balance stance than the moonkin/glyph of stars.
I much prefer being in a stated eclipse with spells highlighted for th preference of the eclipse. It feels like rotationally it’s just another caster without that waxing/waning.
Wow has always been this way though. Start with a class you love and see it change. I’ve gone from warr to rogue to shaman to dk to moonkin! I’ve played everything ofc but you always see your favorite change.
I also agree on the Moonkin / Glyph of Stars problem. I’d love it if we would get something similar to Glyph of Shadow, where we can see our character more. It’s almost necessary on certain terrain, in the case of Stars… Also regarding the frequent changes, it does make it more difficult to stick to a spec, you could be really enjoying it one expansion and then suddenly not, if the core mechanic changes. Something like that should be considered, polled, tested more heavily in advance; and ofc the more options for player preference, the better ![]()
I said this in another thread, but I absolutely hate this manual Eclipse. It’s like manually breathing. No one asked for it and the spec has yet another button and cooldown we need to manage instead of our core ability just being automatic like it has been for the past ~20 years.

Well, who asked for the automatic Eclipse? That’s changed like 20 versions.
Overall, the less deterministic the core mechanic, the better. Rotational agency is key to the ‘longevity’ of a player’s engagement and enjoyment with a spec.
hi, I just don’t like leaving too many traces online so I swap names around ![]()
letting this thread go now
The old eclipse system had like 95% uptime it was kind of pointless since it was basically up all the time and it was janky needing to cast starfire twice or wraith twice before you could go into eclipse. So the windup was so slow… double dot then get into eclipse then you just stay in eclipse forever.
Sure if you want to get rid of eclipse completely\damage windows that is a argument but the old eclipse was awful it ment that windup time took ages due to 2 casts into eclipse and it had a 90% uptime i thought it was poorly designed.
100% agree convoke is the best ability in the game, i wish incarn\eclipse just got merged and we had convoke baseline again
Get rid of LUNAR and SOLAR eclipse. Just have it under “ECLIPSE”. and starfire for multi target and wrath for 1-2 tagets. that’s all.
I’m not a fan of the new Eclipse mechanic either. I’d rather it be baked into Celestial Alignment instead of being a button you have to press and then cast another spell to trigger the effect. I’ve switched to Feral for now, but I’m not great at maximizing cat damage (though I love running around at such a fast speed in cat form). I’ll probably try Balance more and see if I can get used to it.
Can we talk about why we need two baseline dots anymore? Now that the mastery and damage amps are gone for having multiple dots on target, it feels really weird still needing to double dot and I’m not even sure if I need to anymore. It’s just a habit
I have been playing balance for about 20 years and it has gone through many iterations. I’m not sold on eclipse being a button I have to push. But, time will tell if it feels good. Right now it just feels awkward.
I’m considering switching to feral, too, though I will probably just play resto in my groups.
How are you guys tracking when eclipse/incarn runs out? Does the CDM do that or do we have to look up at our buffs?
Would have been nice if they had the option so you could choose eclipse or the bfa empowerment now that would have been nice.
Options are always good.
To be honest after playing through a million different versions of eclipse being a passive, it kind of feels right to have it be an active, like it should have been one all along.
Now they just need to tweak the rest of the kit around it so it fits a little better. For example, I dont see any reason why trees need to be a button, eclipse could just summon them. Yeah the taunt utility can be nice but personally its annoying having fury of elude, trees, and eclipse all as medium Cds to hit. Hell, fury of elune could proc from eclipse now too.
