To be honest, I miss boats. Yeah, yeah, we have boats to boralus that doesn’t even work half of the time coming back to stormwind but I miss the feeling of boat travel. Now a days it’s just click a portal and boom… you’re there. That’s nice and all but I really like the feeling that the world is connected. Maybe it’s just me but I think it’s silly just using portals all the time.

if you think about it, portals are just smaller, circular boats that you walk into to travel to a location instantaneously that have no hull and are made of magic and a little JPG image in the center
I should buy a boat.

I have a boat, well it’s really a kayak but there are times when I’m paddling and think, “wish I had a portal cause that shoreline is so far away now and I’m paddling into the wind to get back now. “
To OP I do miss the feel of travel on a boat though Boralus did have some of that feel, just wish the world didnt have so many of these portal/load-screen feels as well. The openness of the whole world is disjointed to much with load screens but technically I understand why they dont do travel like we want them to.
After the absolute cluster on the forums for removing the Caverns of Time portal, in pretty sure the player base would explode if we went back to more boat/zepplin travel.

While it’s fun I wish flying was not in the game. I want travel to be slower and I loved boats and zeppelins. I never liked the feeling of flight paths too. I thought we where going to get more use out of boats as Alliance in BFA but that did not really become a thing.
It’s not a big deal but I find it makes the world feel larger and exploring and travel feels more fun and a little less pointless like it does now.
Transportation always felt better and just generally more acceptable than a portal from my own design perspective.
Portals to me are just so… cheap, it’s super easy to implement and makes the entire world feel “busy” compared to hanging out waiting for the air-ship or boat or train and you had an opportunity to interact with another player because for a brief moment it’s the only thing really on the plate aside from just waiting.

I like boats irl and stuff, but in WoW, I’d way rather take a portal, and so would most people. Theres even a song about the time Blizz let us talk to a guy instead of using a boat
