It basically boils down to knowing “routes” and what groups to pull…
Also…tanking revolves around kiting more than actual tanking.
So why dont they:
Make dungeons similar to TBC with a same feel (early expansion)?
Dungeons are linear…dont have to worry about routes, its one pull after another along a hallway type path. Dont need an addon to tell you where to go or what to pull for completion…completion would be guaranteed, making it all about time, interrupting, and doing DPS.
Mobs hit hard, and needed to be absorbed by tanks, threat was an issue, and so was DPS and healer aggro, so you didnt spam AOE/Heals? And INTERUPPTING is important.
I feel this would make more tanks viable, healers more acceptable, and any DPS would work, since AOE would be less crucial. It would be more about pulling off a clean one-time run, where aggro was managed, interrupts were done, and deaths kept at a minimum, than the zergy/AOE-fest, skip trick/snap pull mentality ruled.
IMO you should have to kill every mob in a dungeon for it to be considered complete. You either rid the lair of its evils or the survivors will come back to bite you in the booty.
I just think the meta is whack. It made sense when challenge modes were out…skips and routes, and etc were cool, but it really was an extra activity for just cosmetics…now its mandatory in a sense, so make it something thats reasonably achievable for the player that puts the effort in…
So cut out all the BS. No skips, make the dungeons easier to navigate for pulls, so tanks aren’t intimidated by not knowing weird routes, snapping, skipping. Make it a damn gauntlet you are either good enough to get through or not, due to healing, interrupts, dps.
Problem is they dont do “major overhauls” on specs mid expansion anymore, just number adjustments. I dont think DHs can go anywhere with this type of balancing.
We need new skill/talents that improve our depth. As long as we are the 3 button wonder, they will never make us competitive. I guessing at least 2 more expansions, before we come into our own again.
Not a fan of added power. I feel the worst thing Blizzard did, was introduce artifact weapons in Legion, and not do a proper cleanup/redo of specs afterwards. They cheesed out and went with Azerite powers, and now we have conduits, and so on…Can we just get back to having functional classes with good baseline abilites?
The issue is that devs have no interest in catering to slow learners to help them get up to speed. If you’re not part of the 2% fastest learners at this sort of skill, they intend for you to either magically make yourself a fast learner who has the equivalent of 16 years of experience to build on, or buy tokens to pay for carries.
Look at what they did to leveling dungeons by sectioning them off with chromie time. Many players now reach max level without ever having run a dungeon. Yet there is nowhere in the game they can look to find out even the basics of playing their spec, nor find the answer to the question “How am I doing?”
its the same reason raiding has become dance dance revolution. 1% players demand harder and harder content because they want to overcome impossible challenges. supposedly up to +10 the dungeons aren’t THAT hard though.
Prideful makes planning your route much much more important. A tank has to ensure that prides don’t spawn mid pack, spawn before bosses and you hit 100% count without pulling extra.
This 99% of the DPS/Healer population. It all comes down to tank to plan routes and lead the group. No idea why this is a thing. It is a group of 5 people, not 1 planner and 4 brainless zombies who just follow 1 person.
