I keep seeing rDruid isn't the best healer...why?

I kinda like Druid healing, and I need a slight switch up from rShaman (still going to play him, just want to heal with something else) in BG Blitz only.

I don’t want to walk into bad situation, but why are they so poorly regarded. And if you think it’s only going to be a hassle, what non-Priest healer would you recommend?

They lost their tier set from last season which was very very good… Also druid tends to be good in a slower meta as their hots can keep people up so they can clone.

So yeah druid is probably worse than last season. It’s early season so balance changes will happen.

Lastly in BG’s mw/evoker>>all with their mobility. Druid ain’t bad.

In random BGs I find resto druid to be weaker than other healers because you don’t have free globals to do anything other than heal with how high damage is. If you cyclone, someone dies. Or you get interrupted while casting clone, someone dies. You can’t do any meaningful damage to someone attacking you. On a holy pally, MW, or pres, you can still do damage without letting people die. Outside of tree I feel squishy as a resto druid unless I go bear form and do no healing to people. Roots aren’t that powerful anymore with all the ret pallys running around with constant freedom + all the other melee root breaks.

I still like my resto druid. I am not saying they are weak exactly, but these are the reasons I feel like they FEEL weaker than the other healers I have played in random BGs. At the end of BGs I do about as much healing as I do on my MW, but minimal damage.

Haven’t done blitz yet, so can’t comment on that. I also haven’t touched them in arena, so idk about that.

What are you playing?

I don’t mind the Druid playstyle but I do find they are kind of mana hogs compared to all my other healers. I think for Druid you’re giving up mana efficiency and more potent burst healing for longer sustained healing and much more utility than most other healers, their mobility is pretty decent too.

I find holy pallies and resto druids shine more in arena than in BGs, their toolkits are just better designed for smaller skirmishes. I enjoy evoker healing as well, with the buffs to temporal anomaly you can get some big aoe shields and echo healing while having the best mobility of all the healers. (priest is my fave but you don’t want to play it haha)

I have played MW monk, resto druid, and pres evoker so far this season. MW is the most fun, especially the hybrid build. DPS caught unaware will regret training me. I play MW and Resto druid a similar amount. Pres evoker, the mog is bad, so I probably will not play it much this season XD - it’s really good, though!

I really don’t think rdruids have the big “ohh heck!” Big heals needed in PvP especially when someone is blasting cds. Damage is so spikey and very little ramp up time. So hots just aren’t the best mode of healing. Druids can put up big heal numbers and the forever-Druids who been playing since vanilla can pump and be game changers…it’s not as easy as two button monk heals for example

Burst is at an all time high so you can swap on/off targets that are loaded up with hots. That’s resto druids biggest weakness.

Your biggest ST heal, especially if there are hots on the target, would be swiftmend for the soul of the forest buff and then nature swiftness → regrowth. That’s a massive heal.

It requires set up. Not as easy as LOH, Serenity, Cocoon, etc

lol monk is literally two buttons.
Disc is a little more chaotic but al instant casts. I wish kick only worked when casting. But that would make disc priests over the top.
I’ve seen some really good rdruids though. I’ve seen some straight up mid field pumpers were no one is dying and I’ve seen some insane fc carriers and I’ve seen rdruid who spin flag until help arrives like a dang juggernaut. What I think is the skill ceiling is a lot higher for preparing for incoming heals rather than the reactionary healers like me. I see damage I heal it. Bubble it. Pain sup it. Not sure rdruids have that option so their skills need to be different. I’m just surmising. Because there are a lot of struggling rdruids and then you see that one guy who is playing at an insane level doing insane things. It’s a wierd spec

Yea. I don’t feel like I struggle much with the resto druid. I feel like I have no globals to do much aside from heal. When I do have free globals, I can’t do any meaningful damage and clone opens me up to interrupt. With how high burst is, an interrupt kills DPS in BGs (because many DPS don’t know what a defensive is XD). Compared to the monk, I can CC, heal, and do damage without worrying if someone is going to die. Just feels less fluid and more restrictive.

Every single “healers are so tough please nerf” threads are all from dps who haven’t used a single cc or snare or root or kick for over a year. Every single player that strangulates kicks silences etc has absolutely no issues with healers. So I feel your comment in my soul.
