Happening to me too.
Before this week I noticed Id die maybe 1/2 times.
This week ive been farming augment stones/satchels and it takes me about 3-6 attempts to get down without dying.
Extremely Frustrating.
This happens to me a lot, especially in LFR.
One thing that seems to help me is to try to land in the middle of the pool by walking backwards off the edge.
A guildmate told me what he does is uses right click and spins around once with that and then still holding the right click points down. It worked. I tried it and didnāt die. But other people in my group are dying nowā¦

A shaman in my normal run last night died in the pool. They were having unusually bad lag issues so there may be something to the network problems speculated above. Iāve been paying a lot of attention and run the raid multiple times a week and only happens to players occasionally from what Iāve noticed.
Same.
Every.
Time.
Try rotating your camera in a full circle and then point down with your camera. It did the trick, and I donāt die anymore.

I died 5 times in a row, even using slow fall to make sure I didnāt take fall damage. I always landed in the water and died. Sixth time was a charm.

Have you considered a career in software testing? Iām impressed by all the things youāve tried. Things I would have never considered. 
Died on my Paladin and also Priest ( who I ended up using Levitate on to get down)
Got kicked from raid the split second someone kindly rezed me on Pally ā¦ 30 min lock out ,
I wondered if it was something to do with everyone being in combat when you jump down??
Anyone else still have this problem? Iāve had this problem since release and nothing works. In LFR jump down, die, no one will rezz, they say just keep jumping, jump like 10 times, die every time, get kicked because no one will rezz. On DK with no buffs, no path of frost, just die every time. Tried doing the camera thing, didnāt work.

I still have this problem all the time. I run my druid usually every week in the raid and it happens frequently. Thankfully, itās normal and heroic and I can use the crystal to port back down without jumping so Iāve never bothered to try any tricks. It would be nice if you could spawn back at the repair NPC/crystal in LFR, too.
I gotta bump this as this is still clearly an issue. It JUST started affecting my druid Rajeshri (bleeding hollow, horde). I died 8 times in a row after a wipe, then its every now and then 3 or 4 times when joining new groups. Its not consistent, theres nothing stopping or causing it that I can control.
I am dying AFTER I land safely in the water, about .5 seconds later.
Same, Iāve died on my main and my alts. Itās random whether I die or not.
The only thing that has stopped me from dying there is doing a 360 spin with my right click down and then, holding down the right click still, look down. That is the only way I have survived that jump. Itās the only fix I have found.
