I mean as far as I know the fact they keep acknowledging this character’s existence probably means he’s gonna become relevant in some form or fashion down the line and I think he’s probably gonna be Vol’jin’s replacement as the Race Leader for Darkspear Trolls.
And if it is the case, then poor Rokhan. The Shadow Hunter we were introduced to in Warcraft 3’s Rexxar Campaign and he barely did anything throughout WOW’s story.
In my case I was shocked this one character became a meme. And sadly memes affect the media we enjoy. Even if the meme is incongruous with what the media is about.
I mean build him up to be something more than a joke like they seem to be doing and sure, maybe one day he can be a leader. They need to introduce characters somehow and why not Zekhan and Tinkerbell? Every character starts in obscurity but the big caveat here is you have to build them up. Not just rely on them being a joke or a reference like Harrison Jones or the Rambo guy.
I would rather him to be a nazgrim-like character. Show up as a sort of buddy to the player character. Maybe even get some special dialogue based on if you chose Saurfang or Sylvanas. But, yes, it’s very possible.
Unfortunately there isn’t too many Darkspear characters that seem qualified or interested in leading the tribe. Participation for troll characters all around would be nice though.
Because people love characters they can relate to. And right now theres nothing WoW players can relate to more then someone stanning for their favorites only to be left utterly disappointed by them.
To be fair, there was nothing unique about Zappiboy from the Battle for Lordaeron trailer either. He just looked like a generic troll shaman but people fell in love with him anyway.
I’m totally happy to use the word bae, not in real life because it makes me sound like a “how do you do fellow kids” person at my age, but in forum discussion I’ll use like any other slang. In my Life is Strange days it was the informal name of one of the endings.
Zekhan as a leader? why? what did he do really? zapped a few people? Green Jesus put his hand on him so he got blessed?
Zekhan is a meme, a joke, and should remain a joke.
Panderans were a joke, and they tried to make something out of them, and just look at them now, fat furry animals that have no lore, no contribution, no importance whatsoever… cause they don’t really fit in the Warcraft universe. They were supposed to stay as hidden easter eggs like how there were in Warcraft 3.
Zekhan is exactly the same case. he is just a kid, zero contribution other than accompanying mAh hOnOr orc. Might be a bit intelligent, might have some courage, but Zero skills in leadership, and there are far more powerful and respected trolls out there compared to this nobody.
Looked more like the physical embodiment of the Forsaken choosing the Horde over their selfish leader who has literally been suppressing their free-will for years and has just declared that the Horde was nothing to her, including the Forsaken who she just abandoned.
Opinions, opinions, I suppose.
Can’t wait until you’re proven wrong 3 expansions later when Chieftan Zekhan becomes the bravest, smartest, and greatest leader the Horde has ever had.
Yes, because it isn’t bad enough that the Horde just lost their greatest warchief ever. Let’s add insult to injury by allowing a meme character to take the mantle.
For all everyone is calling Zekhan a meme character, the dude was created before he became a meme… if that makes sense.
According to Blizz, the Old Soldiers cinematic was being made before Zekhan became a meme. And considering how high budget those things are, how long it takes and the fact it’d be a pointless lie, I believe them.
Zekhan’s story this expansion was very likely planned from the get go, and it was just a pleasant surprise he was popular. I would be shocked if he was not intended to be in that last cinematic considering he acted something off a moral compass for Saurfang in Old Soldiers.
I really don’t see them adding him to that last cinematic just cause he popular after he already had that role in guiding Saurfang in a previous one.
No, I think it’s just a case that he happened to become popular.
I also don’t agree that he might be leader of the Darkspear. Dude has done literally nothing to leading effect at all all expansion, his character was entirely tied to Saurfang’s path to challenge Sylvanas.
