I just realized, this game sucks

Don’t get me wrong, at its core, it’s a great game. The art team, the mechanics, the feel of the game, all great…but…this game sucks. It’s a combination of design choices that make this game suck, at least for me.

  1. The completely transparent time gating, to cover lack of content: Ok, they had to finish this in a global pandemic, can cut some slack here.

  2. Torghast not itemized: Possible the single biggest mistake they’ve ever made

  3. PvP…lol…where to even begin. Here’s 30 skills to put on your hotbar, have fun checking them all out as you die in 2 GCDs. A game “balanced” around 3 v 3, that doesn’t scale in any way when more players are added. Really? You think that might be a problem?

  4. Loot…oh loot. A game, a franchise, a company, literally built on loot…and it sucks. It’s boring, you don’t get enough of the boring loot, and the loot you do get is pretty boring. Not sure why they continue, throughout their company life, to keep missing this. In D2 they nerfed boss runs, in D3 they had the disastrous auction house, in SL they have multiple examples of loot scarcity, or no loot at all. What on earth made you think people were going to be happy getting currency after 2 hours of probably fail RNG heavy content?

  5. PvP having to PvE a substantial amount. People that like PvP, don’t want to PvE, and visa versa, just a heads up.

I love Blizzard, I really do. I have thousands of hours into Blizzard games, which is why the current state of things makes me so angry. I don’t think they do any of this maliciously…well, except for making players pick up poop of some sort in every expansion but…that’s another thread.

The PvE stuff…I can understand. You have to pad time that people play, and there are a lot of systems in place to do that…but the PvP stuff…it’s just inexcusable. You just can’t make a game, where the damage output is the same in a 2 v 2, as it is in a 40 v 40…it’s always going to be frustrating.

Ah well, lots to do in this world I suppose. I love the core mechanics in WoW, and always end up like Charlie Brown with Lucy holding the football. Maybe this time…

Hello , I used to play black desert , in that game there were massive wars with 200+ players on screen with people killing each other in 2 skills , massive lags accompanied us too.The pve was about running in circles killing mobs until you die of boredom… only to use all that cash you farmed into a failed attempt at upgrading an item which made the item downgrade.
Being back on wow feels like a breath of fresh air lol.
Wow is a great mmorpg when you look at the competition one second.

I think point 4 is the issue. I usually want more power, more xmog, something next. When the drop rate is lowered, the goal is slowed…and made less fun.

Legion got it right for me–Shadowlands close. The reward is there, just too scarce. BfA, reward was missing. (imo)

I’m the opposite. I despised Legion, thought it was worse than even WoD. BFA I enjoyed from a M+ standpoint, the rest sucked. This expansion is thus far a pretty big let down where I spend a lot of time doing nothing because out of the 20+ keys I’ve ran since the last reset I’ve gotten 0 pieces of loot. xD

Revert the loot changes, give alts renown equal to the main, and add flying. The game is 100x more fun and meaningful.

I get it, you want more of a incentive to do one of the best solo content additions added to the game in years. But gear is not it. There are far to many problems that would come with making that change.

OP you’re wrong. This game at its core is a very bad game. It’s the presentation such as beautiful zones, music and transmog carries the time gated boring content.

They’d have to redo Torghast completely and make it substantially more difficult for both solo and groups if they introduced gear. Unless you meant purely cosmetics.

And we know how players felt with the first version of Torghast, which was nowhere near difficult enough then to justify loot drops.

half the fun of my old content runs is I take in the scenery more. Even wrath I take scenic routes in storm park and such.

Like a leveling paladin in legion. I add time going man this vista looks cool, lets do a fly by. As while I have griped about many things in wow…the graphic artists have never been among them. They hit a homerun everytime.

Where as in SL I am not looking at the scenery, I am looking for every shortcut I can find and avoiding mobs like its going out of style. Since I do not want to spend the next 4 minutes of my life wasting trash mobs. For 1 gold. If that.

Nightfae pod in PvP never helps. You just get murdered. Like the hunters who actually think feign death will work in PvP.

Some have the lego it does do stuff.

Its not the agro loss they want (they won’t get it). One lego if I recall is basically a wipe of some if not all debuffs cast on them.

another lego or conduit? feign death gives some boosts as well. Exhilaration is buffed with that I recall.

Agree. It had potential. But instead, feels like place holder rewards and were done over the course of 2 days.

Burst meta at its finest. 12k verdict crits from Ret’s are lovely.

Diablo 3 adds tons of loot - everyone is happy.
WoW removes loot thinking it will make us happy- how many people quit already?

BFA was all about doing PvE in order to PvP. SL, however, if you want to PvE, you need to PvP…

Clearly, Shadowlands team did not take enough time. Glad they extended the release date ones, but clearly was not enough. A lot of aspects feel like place holders. Some zones feel incomplete. Torghast feels incomplete. TC is a copy paste with a poor effort:reward ratio. 35 anima is definitely a place holder.
Anima prices vs Grateful offerings is messy as well. I got HUNDRENDS of GO sitting. Soon will be at 500+, while Anima is rare. Not sure why xmog set costs 25,000 anima and only 5 GO. Should be 2,000 anima + 50 GO.

WoW is a fantastic MMO. Best one out there imho. But we aren’t comparing WoW to other games, we are comparing WoW to its previous iterations. And, evidently, it is going down the hill.

Indeed. Having about 2-3 weeks catch up on renown is absurd. Puts alts at massive disadvantage.

I don’t think anyone wants gear for TC/Gast. People want to be compensated for dozen of hours invested into clearing TC. I am a druid. Travel form all the way. I couldn’t care less this ugly rustic-annoying sound mount (personal opinion).

They could have EASILY turned TC into Mage Tower 2.0 and give unique rewards. Warlock pets, druid forms, actual nice mounts, maw-specific transmog sets etc.

Begs to question, why are you playing it if you think it’s a bad game down to its core?

It’s only use is to stop 1 cast :smiley: But indeed, 99/100 times pod gets destroyed anyway. People know about it and 18k HP is really not that much when Fire Mages got 30-40k bursts in 0.2 seconds, and paladins Verdicts crit 12-15k.

Its more like cause there’s a mob of enemies around you already and they just curb stomp your seed.

If your partner(s) can CC any threats to the pod you can consistently get back up. A common example is you will see rogue/mage and the mage will get nuked, the rogue will then CS/kidney/blind anything that targets the pod and the mage will consistently get the rez off.
