I just picked up this Rosewill FBM-X2 Budget Case

https://www.rosewill.com/product/micro-atx-mini-tower-desktop-gaming-pc-computer-case-usb-3-0-fbm-x2/

And I gotta say, I’m pretty impressed for the $30 price point.

PROS:

MicroATX/Mini ITX
Supports 2x120mm top, 2x120mm front, and 1x120mm rear fans
It has a magnetic mesh top filter.
For the front panel, it’s far enough away and the side vents are significant enough that front intake doesn’t seem terrible compared to similar cases.
Supports up to 280mm GPUs (website, but rep on amazon page says 300mm) and 150mm CPU cooler heights
Good drive mounting locations
Good cable tie locations
Plain front polished aluminum-look, solid side panel
Cheap

CONS:
Thin metal
only 1 fan included
Cheap

This will contain:

i3-10100
ASRock H410M-HDV/M.2
16GB T-Force Vulcan 2666
120GB OCZ SSD
2TB Seagate HDD
Gigabyte P750GM PSU
Sapphire Vega 64 -or- ASUS RX 570 4GB (depending if the Vega 64 will fit…it’s close 282mm)
Random 120mm fans
USB Wifi AC adapter

Pretty excited so far.

Looks markedly better than the case at a similar price I built an office PC for someone in a few years back. One of the biggest problems with that case was that its interior was full of sharp edges… how is this one in that aspect?

It’s decent. Haven’t built in it yet, but just from initial inspection i don’t see it being TOO bad.

Appears the stamping was done first and a decent layer of paint was applied to it afterwards, and edges are paint-rounded that I noticed in the PSU and IO cutouts. I’m actually surprised they even painted the interior, since it has no window. So it’s a nice touch that helps I think.

But then again, it’s only $30.

It only comes with one exhaust fan, which is probably fine for the level of hardware most people would put in there.

I could see it going to $35 if they put one extra fan in the front, though. That would be a good change. Just from looking at it, it seems to have been front ventilation than say, my NZXT S340 did. Similar amount of bottom cutout, and side vents vs. none on the S340. And compared to my Thermaltake Versa H17, it has greater distance between the chassis and the front panel, with greater side vents.

Waiting for my i3 to come in on Sunday.

Update: CPU came early! Finished my build on this system:

The OCZ SSD failed. Windows wouldn’t let me install (“Windows can’t install on this drive because it is about to fail” error). Pulled it out, and put in a 512GB Silicon Power I had laying around. Worked good.

Lillybug: What do you think about this front fan placement? Should it be moved up a little bit? I figured this would give the GPU more cooling. Let me know what you think.

Cable management wasn’t too bad. This is the best I could do. Not my best work, I’ll admit. But serviceable. It got a bit tight, but the panel closed, LOL.

Chroesire: No cuts. All edges were rounded well.

CPU-Z stress - maintains 4.1ghz all-core. Not bad at all.

Scored around 489 on the single-core score, which only turbo’d to 4.2ghz. About where I expected it to be.

After about 5 minutes of the CPUZ stress test, the stock cooler only ever hit 67c. Seems more than sufficient.

Overall, I am VERY impressed with this little $30 case.

Installing AC Odyssey right now. We’ll see how it runs, lol.

I have those ram sticks on another computer, but mine are rated at 3000 cas 16 i think?

the cpu cooler is an eye sore tbh, a low profile cooler should fix it

Solid side panel. Never gonna see it

For your next build I highly suggest my case I showed the other day, it’s a cool way to experience what you can do with that case

I will never go back to a standard case because of the motherboard removable tray, extremely cable management friendly

Also should mention, the only bad thing about that case is this hot swappable device for the hard drives

Molex connector meaning get a molex adapter?

That is a 100% nope and I got rid of it ASAP, it’s removable by screws, and just directly connected it
