I Just Noticed Something About Elune and Eonar

The Moon Goddess Elune is a Goddess of the Cosmic Force of Life. But all the moon spells deal Arcane Damage and they even look like arcane magic (pink and blue glows, etc). Arcane Magic is the Magic of the Cosmic Force of Order. Not to mention, celestial bodies like the moon are usually the domain Order, not life.

On the other hand, the Titan Eonar is a Goddess of the Cosmic Force of Order. But we know well from all the lore around her that she has Life Powers. Between creating Keeper Freya, and the Emerald Dream, and all the Life Magic we saw in Antorus, she got her feet firmly planted on Cosmic Life.

And this in-game book implies that Eonar and Elune are lovers, or at least they were in some sort of relationship that justified calling Elune “her great love”.

“She called the tree Elun’Ahir, in honor of her great love.”

So here’s what I think: Elune and Eonar swapped powers like wedding rings.

Eonar gave Elune her moon powers. Elune gave Eonar her life powers.

I appreciate people who delve into things like this and share it because God knows id never pay close enough attention or go looking for it.

Yeah the Elune stuff is weird lately…like the what Elune’s chosen druid hero spec focuses heavily on arcane damage and the like… then Shadowlands makes one think Elune is a robot with a soul like her sister the Winter Queen is… lore’s such a mess can’t they let it be tidy for five minutes? :dracthyr_tea:

I don’t think Elune is a robot, here’s why:

The Death Gods are robots, and in my mind that makes sense. They are the Death Gods. It doesn’t make sense for them to be living beings. Them being non-living feels thematically fitting.

But Elune is a Life Goddess. So it makes sense for her to be a living being.

That’s why I don’t think Elune is a robot.

I think Elune is a tree.

So…their souls are sisters then but both physically other things fitting their domain? Hmm… so if she’s a tree that mean Tyrande is going to go hippy when she finds out and try to live on, or under her?

Technically all the gods of the 6 Pantheons are brothers and sisters, regardless of what they are, except Pelagos.

They were all created by the First Ones. They all have the same parents.

It’s kinda like, if you have a kid, but then you also become a mad scientist and create a sentient robot. Now you have two kids. They are siblings, but one is metal lol

Maybe. :8ball::robot:

Kinda becomes confusing with the Earth Mother, Elune, and An’she. :world_map::robot:

Couldn’t describe my exact life experience any better. I feel seen. Ty.

The Earth Mother is Azeroth.

As for An’she, given that Tauren Paladins draw power from the sun, and there’s a sun Paladin Hero Spec, and the symbol of the Human Church of Holy Light is a sun, I’d reckon the sun is either a big source of Holy Light, or a God or God-like being of Holy Light.

I wouldn’t put a whole lot of stock on Tauren legends about what An’she is or isn’t though. Like, the Tauren believe that Elune is the left eye of the Earth Mother, and we all know that’s not true. Sometimes legends are just legends.

Druid spells just do arcane damage mechanically because Blizzard didn’t want to create a new damage type. They look different from mage spells.

Night elves banned arcane magic from being used, there is no way they would ban the magic of their goddess.

Same goes for Fel, Shadow, and Chaos. I’m pretty sure this goes back to when we used to have elemental resists, making a unique “Lunar” element for Druids seems non-sensical in how many already existed when no other enemy in the game would also deal Lunar damage.

I know nothing hardly of lore outside of what I find in the game when I sometimes read quest text.

This is awesome.

Hmm or even madder scientist who dabbles in the science of cloning…then you got clones who’d be your kid’s sibling but…that might be a bit creepier than “Hey i made you a robot sibling…you’re welcome” …fair enough though so in a way the gods of Order are siblings to Elune and Winter Queen in a way?

Not gonna lie, all this new lore for cosmic bs is cringe as hell, i could not read your post without eyerolling most of it, not because of you, but because the lore itself.

Its boring and cringe. Imo, one of the biggest mistakes wow did was to “reveal” the unknown so unapologetic, trying to demystify and dissect wow mythos, trying to give reason and origin for everything.

Shadowlands ruined everything about the concept of death, what to expect when characters die, it broke the magic.

I also detest the way they are going with the cosmic forces, their pantheons and the ““people”” there, cause these entities are just that to me now, “people”. I bet the final enemy will be - and that “totally” subvert all the expectations /s - Amanthul, the big bad titan, cause he somehow will represent the patriarch , that we will need Sargeras help to stop.

Personally, not interesting int his overreaching stuff, i like wow when the worst enemy we could face was a giant dragon on steroids or creatures from the chtulu mythos that we didnt fully comprehend. But more power for those who like it

Seems pretty obvious to me that Sargeras will be The Last Titan

Weren’t the OG nelf druids just mages learning new malfurion tricks?
