I just need to vent

A reminder of why I will never touch mythic. I mean I’m fine with a challenge but only when I’m the one doing it. Adding other people into the mix sounds like a nightmare.

it’s not always about winning. sometimes we just play for fun.

This, TBH. An ever scaling difficulty, no affix / no timer, would have been wonderful. And get loot direct from the bosses with none of the FOMO run X dungeons a week grind BS.

Or something like N’zoth vision masks, where you can optionally activate something unique in each dungeon that Blizzard can design to work in that dungeon, for an extra piece of loot at the end, and that you can just turn off if you realize you bit off more than you can chew.

True.

I don’t know about Mouse over macros but the quick cast feature they added completely works for handling incorporeal and afflicted.

Yes, they do, I use the in game click casting feature with a written macro, never had it fail. This affix is a non issue, ppl just refuse to contribute when they can.

If you’re Holydin, there’s no excuse to not get both yourself; look into getting (probably) more Mastery and Crit than you currently have and be mindful of saving some HP every now and then for the inevitable spawns. All it takes is one global for dispel, then two globals for a Word of Glory+Holy Shock, perhaps an unlucky third if you don’t crit. You have a myriad of ways to accrue HP to blow, even in about 5-second-long high-octane windows.

TLDR: having help is great- if not jarring imo- and while there might be outliers in situation in regards to “not being able to take care of both ghosts as a healer,” you should look into learning ability/target priority a little more so you have total control over your own experience. As the person above me said: this affix is a complete non-issue.

Edit: also, remember that if you dispel the first ghost in less than a second of it spawning, you can easily sit and wait for your dispel to get off cooldown to dispel the second ghost- there’s quite a lot of wiggle room with this method, as long as you’re quick to dispel the first.

nothing is more crushing than getting all the way to the end and that’s when the group falls apart

Galakrond’s fall would be there too but at least the filter boss is only the second

I’ve seen more wipes to Blight than I have the Anomaly. Mostly because the orb being passed doing a metric buttload of damage and being done at just the wrong time is enough to 80-0 someone but it’s also one of those fights where if you have an excess of hunters or night elves you can ignore the mechanic most of the time.

Well there’s part of your problem.
You have confused the two affixes.
Mages cannot dispel afflicted.

Yes the tank should be doing the other one but your comp isn’t great. Most people have an Aug that can do them too.

And yes a simple mouse over macro and WA trivializes this affix.

Mages can dispel afflicted. They can cleanse curses.

That’s how I feel. I think infinite scaling is detrimental to the game, and pushes the wrong type of mindset. Same reason I’m glad raiding stops at Mythic and they don’t have M+ raids. I prefer there being an endpoint, even if I don’t get to that endpoint. It also drastically distorts community perception of class balance when the top ~1000 players in the world doing +35 keys or whatever insist that only one comp of five specific classes is viable. It may be true that at the highest possible level, where every single pull is meticulously calculated and practiced over and over again, and every cooldown is timed down to the second, that a specific comp is needed for a specific strategy to work. But at the key levels that 99% of the playerbase actually run, all classes are viable, and the community is tricked into thinking they’re not.

I wonder if people are playing with the default nameplates, which are not terribly intuitive when it comes to information. I use the default, but with either a weakaura or addon (nameplate auras) to notify me when there’s an ability I can dispell on an enemy target.

There’s also the in-game setting Options > Interface > Raid Frames > Show Debuffs + Show Only Dispellable Debuffs so you can see if there’s a dispellable debuff on a group member.

I would guess many people aren’t aware of either of these.

I don’t use the in-game click casting feature, never touched it. So at this point it’s not a “people are refusing” by default, it’s just that the default tooling is clunky and requires specific knowledge to make it work, possibly colliding with other features that people have been using for years, as the game version of clique isn’t work in the same way.

Can you show me the settings and macro you are using so I can give it a try?

As far as UI settings go I’d have to double check beyond using raid style party frames. All my heals are bound to the mouse using the in game click casting feature.

For my dispel I have 2, the first one is simply directly bound to Ctrl+right click and is used on party frames. The other uses a macro which is;

/cast [@mouseover] Detox

This is the bound to mouse button 7 and allows me to just hover my cursor over the afflicted mob and dispel it.

You don’t need both for it to work. The click casting (as far as I know) only works with unit frames. So the mouseover macro eliminated the need to target the afflicted mob first.

That’s why you make friends with the one qualified ret on your entire realm.

I’ll have to see if that works for me. In the current state even clicking the nameplate doesn’t work, I have to click on the mob model

Well, I have to agree that affixes shouldn’t target abilities or shouldn’t be made in a way that only certain classes can deal with them.

Maybe affixes need to be redesigned to allow everyone to participate.

All my heals and dispels are mouseover macros and I’ve been able to heal/dispel afflicted with them.

No addons, just normal mouseover macros.

You lost all credibility right here.

Then you went into credibility debt here when you thought that using 4 globals for something that takes two competent players 1 global was a solution.
You also displayed your lack of understanding of the role of th healer’s dispel in mythic+. There are magic debuffs all over the place. There are countless instances where a healer cannot even dispel one ghost, much less two. If you have 3 or 4 gcds to heal up the ghosts, I suggest you go up about 10 key levels where that is no longer the case.
