I’ve been playing WoW since classic. My father introduced me to it at the ripe age of six, as he was introduced to it by my uncle a few weeks after it launched. I was, obviously, too young to really play the game in a meaningful way, but I managed to hit level 60 about three days before BC launched. It wasn’t until WoTLK when I was old enough (and sentient enough) to really be able to engage in the game as it was fully intended. I loved the Arthas story-line, and have always had a soft spot in my heart for Paladins (check character) since. I’m a bit too young to have played Warcraft 3 (I did go back and play through it, the original, not reforged.) So the way I learned of the story was through the Arthas novel that was released around 2008. I loved it. I loved it as much as the expansion as a whole, it was my first time actively having a hand at end-game content and raiding. I remember clearly, I was a 6.8k gearscore rogue, and it was great. My guild wasn’t so great, so we never fully cleared ICC, let alone the heroic difficulty Invincible required. I was thoroughly jealous of anyone that had it. Invincible was Arthas’ childhood horse and was featured decently heavily in the novel, and I thought it was ludicrously cool that a mount had such lore connections. Unfortunately, I never got it, and WoW continued on. I’ve been farming ICC since it was possible to solo it (however it was not every week, I took breaks from the game), I’m estimating is around 8-9 years. I have 185 attempts at Invincible logged, and today was finally the day. It’s a couple of days past Christmas during a dreadful year, and my beautiful girlfriend lay in my bed as I did an ICC run to help tire myself out before bed, and he finally dropped. This caused such a strange surge of emotion; I wanted this thing so desperately as a child, and it finally happened. I saw him drop and damn near started sobbing. It’s just a bunch of pixels, but it means so much. I surprised myself with the perseverance it took, as it really feels like it won’t ever happen. This year was horrible boys, but I got my horse and I hope the same for you. Have a good one.

Congrats! Arthas’ story is really special and the mount is very special too. I hope I get it soon, I’m a newer player so I just started farming 
like 50ish attempts.

She told me to wake her up if it dropped (wasn’t quite asleep yet) and was, honestly, slightly more excited for me than I was. She doesn’t really play video games and doesn’t have any interest in doing so, nor does she really understand my obsession with a virtual horse, but supports it. Told her she was my good luck charm, lmfao. Let the intense desire to never set foot in ICC again power you to get it.

This game is a lot like life, and runs on irony. Im not as dedicated as you are since I only tried for like 4 months and realized this thing is probably never going to drop. I’ve heard stories on people trying for years and nothing.
So I stop trying for like a year and decided to run it one day just to kill some time as I’m talking to a buddy on discord.
and I say “What if Invincible drops like RIGHT NOW”.
And BOOM! This damn horse drops out of the icy blue.
That just how it works. When you least expect it. It just happens.

Exactly man. Every time Tirion jumps to shatter frostmourne I think “What if it really drops?”, which is almost every time tainted by the almost knowledge that of course, it won’t. This time though I actually was enjoying the run, something really rare this many attempts in, and wouldn’t of really mind if it hadn’t dropped.
I also timed my rogue’s 6 stack eviscerate with right as Tirion slammed into Frostmourne. Coulda been that.

Every time I see someone say “I’ve been playing wow since classic” it makes me think they started playing in 2019. And then it kills whatever point they’re trying to make about years and years of disappointment at drops.
