Does anyone else think it’s kind of nuts the amount of grind Blizzard implements in order to be competitive in arena? Legion was great because higher Ilvl mattered but not too much. Now it’s Azerite, essence, honor and who knows what else. I think with a baby, wife and job I just don’t have the time to casually play what I used to enjoy in Legion. Sub ends in a few days and I just don’t have the “heart” to continue this.
Hope things change in 9.0, a big break for me till then.
Yeah I cancelled my sub a few days ago because of this. haven’t played since then except for about 30 minutes this morning. There’s too much to do just for 1 character let alone any alts and this game is too old to keep myself entertained on 1 character. I may give it a try but most likely will need to stop playing.
If my characters aren’t full strength in PvP the game isn’t fun, and if I don’t have at least 3-5 alts to bounce between I can’t stay entertained. No idea how people play just 1 class for years and thousands of arena games each season. i just don’t have it in me.
pretty much. Most of my casual friends who only come back for a month or two aren’t returning because the time it will take them to be relevant again. sucks. to much stuff todo. I wish it was like MOP where you could only do arena and be geared enough for just about any content.

I think the main people this affects is the middle… The competitive that don’t have 20+ hours a week. All my 2k friends have unsubbed but my one gladiator buddy is still playing and quite a few of my ultra casual friends still are (lore/alt/mog nerds that don’t pve or pvp).
I play this game because I still love it besides it beating the crap out of me. But the love feels really one-sided when impressions are that they care more about you being logged in rather than having fun. This patch has some of the latter but it is definitely overshadowed by a ton of the former. Makes me sad.
+1, there are actually people who defend how asinine it is. “But muh mmorpg” and say you shouldn’t be competitive if you don’t grind. Get outta here with that garbage. It was nice when you could complete a set and be done for the season.
