When I play my dps spec, I find it way too difficult get in groups. I can’t pug into any mythic+ that’s actually have a gear boost for me. I have several dps classes ~ 460 and I can’t pug into a single +10. And I can’t use premade to get into heroic raid either. And the raider finder/pvp quick match is typically > 30 min waiting time.
I find most of my time just waiting for various things. Waiting for M+ application, raid application, pvp timer. It feels sad as I don’t have a lot of time to play and most of the time is spend on waiting stuff. I really hope there’s more interesting option for solo players.
The most frustrating thing is that after a long day at work I come home and want to enjoy the game and find I can’t get into anything meaningful. I can’t even count how many times I just log in, queue, and got rejected several times or stare at the long waiting time and just decide to quit.

oh boy, before someone gets in here and starts being rude, let me say this. Find a guild/friends to play with when you get on. I know it sounds like a repeat of a lot of things, but it is the best solution for most things. Heck, half the time I play wow anymore its to do keys with friends and we only have to pug one person.
Also being a dps is going to get you longer que times/make it harder to pug cause the market is flooded with dps at the moment and not nearly enough tanks and healers to fill the gaps.

To the ops point though, torghast can be done solo and looks like its gonna be real good.
Otherwise it looks like more of the same. Wq grind, reps, crafting, renown, mission tables, etc…

What you can do is run your own keys. The pros: you can’t be kicked from your own group. You get to control how meta it is or is not. Someone’s being a jerk, you can throw them out.
The cons: you don’t have control over which dungeon you’re head. You have ‘control’ over its key level. Party drama sabotages YOUR key.
But if you are a DPS looking to get in, pushing your own key is king.

I agree OP. The 470 drops from 5 mask visions are wonderful. I like playing MMO’s, I like playing with other people, but I also like proving myself on my own. Solo challenges are some of the most exciting content in the game for me cause the only one to depend on is myself. Its an MMORPG but you shouldn’t have to ALWAYS do multiplayer content to get good gear or unique rewards.

I understand where you are coming from. I play solo as well and that is because of my responsibilities. Besides work and college, I also have to take care of bed-ridden mom and I never know when she is going to need something so I do things solo because I do not want to hold others up because of my interruptions and sometimes those can be up to 20 minutes.

Generally this is when I quit wow… when rewards from WQ cap out, farm 5 mask visions (sometimes heroic raid on farm)… its boring when there is no more mountain to climb or when the climb is too steep to do solo.

Sololing is great for practicing rotations and getting to know rest of your tool kit. Plenty of outside quest, which many are actually interesting, for sololing.
I do believe blizzard encourages groups. Occasionally I team up so we are all getting credit for mob kills and I noticed improved loot drops. There also is some outside areas which can be stupid difficult alone, these are especially in lowbie zones (jasp mines, whole bunch of kabolds hanging by the tents). I’m guessing that’s blizz way of encouraging working with other players.

Welcome to dps. Actually though, you should be able to get into the heroic raid, at least a fresh run. Of course they aren’t going to let you skip to the end. I have got into heroic raids many times as dps.

I really like the idea of more content that can be queued into that flexes between 1-5 players. Scaling content was one of the greatest things added to wow.

Honestly, I feel like the most rewarding contents should all be solo. You prove your own skill and get your own gear, with nobody holding you back or carrying you ahead, and then you take your completed build to compete against other people in contents that are purely pissing contests, to see who dodges the most boss abilities, who deals the most damage/pump out the most healing.
Sure I play a MMO, but I don’t enjoy working with other people at all. For me, the biggest shots of dopamine always come when I’m higher than everyone else on the DPS meter.
